Scottie Scheffler promised his wife he would never let golf come between him and his family. In fact, the American admitted that if it ever hurt that relationship, then that would be “the last day I play out here for a living.”

The two-time Masters champion is aiming for his third green jacket this weekend at Augusta National. Scheffler won his two major titles in Georgia in 2022 and 2024, allowing for superstitious fans to claim he will win another on the ‘even year’ of 2026.Scottie Scheffler

Scheffler and wife, Meredith, announced they had welcomed their second child just before the Masters – another son called Remy. The couple already have a young son called Bennett and they now complete a foursome family.

The golfer questioned his day job before the Open Championship last year and admitted that while he’s “blessed,” the sport will never affect his private life.

Scheffler said: “I’m blessed to be able to play golf, but if my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that’s going to be the last day that I play out here for a living.

Spiranac left little to the imagination with her post, posing in a Masters green outfit.

She wore a green miniskirt to complement a green jacket that clearly emulated the Masters winner’s jacket.

However, underneath that jacket she went braless, allowing the front to open up and set fans’ hearts racing.

Those fans went crazy for the new post and shared their thoughts in Spiranac’s X comments.

After his arrest for alleged DUI, Tiger Woods is “embarrassed and ashamed,” an insider tells PEOPLE.

“Tiger can be defensive at times but he was embarrassed and ashamed at the latest accident,” the source says.

“He wants to fix his problems. There is nobody more interested in seeing Tiger come out a winner again than Tiger,” the source adds. “He doesn’t do well with defeat and embarrassing public situations.”

Woods, 50, was arrested after crashing his Range Rover on a two-lane road near his home in Jupiter Island, Fla. on March 27.

Authorities said they found two hydrocodone pills in his pants pocket and, after issuing Woods a sobriety test, “observed several signs of impairment,” including “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and “extremely dilated” pupils, they alleged in a probable cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

In Martin County Sheriff’s deputies’ bodycam video, obtained by PEOPLE, Woods asked, “I’m being arrested?” as he was being handcuffed, to which a police officer told him, “At this time, I do believe your normal faculties are impaired.”

En route to the Martin County jail, Woods, draped in a sheet, spent most of the ride hiccuping. At certain points, he winced and rested his head back and closed his eyes, as seen in the bodycam video.

Authorities said Woods did not consume alcohol, and he “blew triple zeroes” on a Breathalyzer test. But he allegedly refused a urinalysis, and authorities believe he was “not impaired by alcohol but possibly by medication or another substance.”

After spending several hours at the jail, Woods bonded out. He was charged with DUI with property damage, refusal to submit to a lawful urine test and careless driving.

Four days later, he broke his silence on the arrest and said he is “stepping away” to seek treatment. “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” the golfer said in a statement on March 31.

“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” Woods continued. “I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

Woods’ family, including his two children Sam and Charlie and girlfriend Vanessa Trump, are “behind him” and supporting his recovery, but they know it is a tough time for the golfer.

“People are quick to judge Tiger but he’s living through a lot of pain and has been for enough years where it has taken a toll on his quality of life in addition to his golf game,” the source tells people.

The source continues, “He is committed now to getting better, however long that takes.”

Former US PGA champion Jason Day says Tiger Woods was “a little bit selfish” to drive under the influence and “put other people in harm’s way”.

Woods, 50, was arrested and charged after clipping a truck and rolling his car near his home in Florida last month. The 15-time major champion, who was also charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, was found with two white pills in his pocket, which were identified as hydrocodone – an opioid used to treat pain. He submitted a written plea of not guilty via his lawyers last week and was granted permission by a judge to seek treatment overseas.

“The only thing that I don’t understand is that it’s a little bit selfish of him to drive and put other people in harm’s way, as well. “But when you’re the player that he was and how strong-willed he is, he thinks he can do almost anything, and that’s probably why he’s probably driving and a little bit under the influence.”

In the arrest affidavit, an officer wrote Woods was “sweating profusely”, his pupils were “extremely dilated” and his movements were “lethargic and slow”.

Five-time Masters champion Woods, whose last victory at Augusta came in 2019, will not be at Augusta National for the season’s first major, and he has also turned down the role of United States Ryder Cup captain next year in Ireland.

For the second year running, there is something of a question mark hanging over Scottie Scheffler heading into The Masters.

The world number one has won on the PGA Tour this season. However, his form in recent weeks has been underwhelming by his incredible standards.

Scheffler also withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open due to the birth of his second child. With that, his most recent result remains his tied for 22nd finish at The Players Championship.

So it is incredibly difficult to know what to expect from Scheffler at Augusta National over the coming days.

Of course, Scottie Scheffler has won The Masters twice already. Meanwhile, he finished fourth 12 months ago despite looking to be nowhere near his best.

That start to his 2025 season could largely be put down to a hand injury. This year, however, there have been no obvious signs that Scheffler is dealing with any sort of issue, particularly given that he won The American Express in his first start.

Speaking on The Smylie Show ahead of Thursday’s opening round, Smylie Kaufman insisted that he would not be at all shocked to see Scheffler in the mix at Augusta National.

However, he did express some concern about his recent form.

“I still feel very good about Scottie this week. It’s probably in the eight [out of 10] range. I’m not quite at the nine or 10 which I would be at for Scottie. But I think when you look at Scottie Scheffler this season and you look at all of his statistics, you’ll notice that the approach stats are down. He’s currently strokes gained this season 82nd approach. This is a guy who’s lived in the top three over the last three years strokes gained approach. It’s been his superpower,” he said.

Tiger Woods, once hailed as America’s golden child in golf, is back in the spotlight following his fourth major car accident in Jupiter, Florida. This mishap occurred just before the Masters, where Woods is slated to play, despite being 50 years old and battling multiple injuries.

Key Takeaways:

This accident marks his second involving charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident raises doubts about Woods’ readiness for the upcoming Masters.
Golf enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting further updates on Woods’ health and career.

Although this is not Woods’ first accident, its timing is critical as it comes shortly before a major tournament he was eyeing. With advancing age and a history of numerous injuries, the crash serves as a reminder of the risks he faces.

The event occurred mere weeks before Woods was expected to compete at the Masters, heightening concerns about his physical condition. Fans speculate whether he can return to peak performance after this incident.

Woods’ involvement in a crash related to driving under the influence adds to his mixed public reputation. Nevertheless, his status as a golf icon remains strong despite facing various hurdles throughout his career.

Since winning the Masters at age 21, Woods has navigated a dramatic career filled with ups and downs. This accident adds another chapter to his complex life, which continues to captivate the golf world.

Tiger Woods has turned down the role of United States Ryder Cup captain next year in Ireland, the PGA of America has announced.

The 50-year-old was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after clipping a truck and rolling his car in Florida on Friday.

Woods, who was also charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, submitted a written plea of not guilty via his lawyers on Tuesday.

Following the crash, the 15-time major champion said he is stepping away from professional golf to seek treatment and concentrate on his health.

He has been given permission by a judge to seek treatment overseas.

“We commend Tiger for prioritizing his long-term health and deeply respect the courage it takes to make such a personal decision,” the PGA of America said.

The organization added it stands in full support of Woods and has “sincere hope for his strength, comfort, and recovery”, and will share further updates on the future captaincy “when appropriate”.

Woods has competed at the Ryder Cup eight times for the USA, with his first appearance in 1997 and last in 2018. However, he has only won the biennial showpiece once in 1999 – at Brookline in Massachusetts.

The 2027 Ryder Cup between the US and Europe will take place at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, from 17-19 September.

Keegan Bradley captained the US team at Bethpage Black last year and Woods was among the favorites to take the role next year.

When asked about the captaincy in recent months, Woods had said he was undecided.

Luke Donald’s third term as European captain for 2027 was confirmed last month.

Following last week’s crash, authorities found two white pills in Woods’ pocket, which were identified as hydrocodone – an opioid used to treat pain.

Officers also reported he appeared “lethargic and slow” while “sweating profusely” with “extremely dilated” pupils, and that his “normal faculties were impaired”.

Woods has had multiple surgeries following a serious road accident in 2021 and has played only a limited schedule.

A Florida judge on Wednesday approved Woods’ request to leave the United States to seek treatment at a comprehensive inpatient treatment facility.

Woods’ attorney Douglas Duncan said doctors have recommended an “intensive, highly individualized and medically integrated programme” for the golfer, away from the media and public scrutiny.

Duncan said the urgent level of care Woods needs cannot be safely done within the US, “as his privacy has been repeatedly compromised”.

Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley, speaking on Sky Sports, said once Woods’ health issues are under control he should focus his attentions on his role as chairman of the PGA Tour’s Future Competition Committee.

“A lot of people are running out of patience now, including himself and his family by all accounts from what he said yesterday. He realises the seriousness of the situation and I think it’s a line in the sand,” said McGinley.

“I don’t think it’s fair to write him off fully but it’s highly improbable that he wins another tournament again, never mind a major.”

On the role he believes Woods can play in the sport’s future, McGinley said: “He’s a very important ally for [chief executive] Brian Rolapp in terms of trying to herd everybody behind the PGA Tour’s future vision.

“There’s nobody better positioned to coerce players into a future for the tour than Tiger Woods because they are all so much in awe of them because of what he achieved as a golfer.”

Tiger Woods’ Masters hopes linger as DUI scrutiny clouds his latest comeback bid

The timing could hardly be more complicated for Tiger Woods. Just days after signaling progress in his return to competitive golf, the 15-time major champion must now juggle renewed Masters ambitions with the fallout from a high-profile arrest.

Authorities in Florida arrested Woods after a rollover crash. He now faces charges of driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing a lawful test.

Investigators say Woods’ vehicle struck a trailer before flipping. Despite the severity of the crash, no one suffered injuries.

This legal setback alone could derail any athlete’s short-term plans. For Woods, it comes at an already uncertain moment in his career. The 50-year-old recently admitted the physical toll of decades in professional golf, saying, “This body doesn’t recover like it did when I was 24 or 25.”

In recent years, injuries have shaped Woods’ schedule. Since his historic win at the Masters Tournament in 2019, he has managed multiple surgeries and recovery periods. A serious car crash in 2021 further limited his appearances.

Still, Augusta remains within reach.

Woods enjoys a unique relationship with the Masters. As a past champion, he holds a lifetime exemption to compete. If he feels physically ready and faces no restrictions, the decision to play rests entirely with him.

Before this incident, Woods had steadily built momentum toward another appearance. He trained carefully and hinted at a possible return. His presence alone draws global attention and boosts the tournament’s profile, regardless of his performance.

Now, new challenges complicate that path.

The legal case remains unresolved, and the incident may disrupt his preparation. At the same time, public scrutiny has intensified again—something Woods has faced throughout his career.

Authorities reported signs of impairment at the scene, though a breath test showed no alcohol. Investigators suspect medication may have played a role. This detail mirrors his 2017 arrest, which Woods later linked to prescribed drugs.

That history adds complexity to the current situation. Woods has built his legacy not only on dominance but also on resilience. Time and again, he has battled back from injuries and personal setbacks.

Now, he faces another test—one that could shape both his comeback and his legacy.
