‘He’ll be a Human Punch Bag’ – Sad Truth About Mike Tyson Fighting Floyd Mayweather

The announcement that Mike Tyson will face off against Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match next year and sparked huge reaction on social media and now, one of Money’s former opponents has offered his verdict on the fight and on Iron Mike’s chances against the undefeated icon.

The last few years have seen a number of boxing greats briefly come out of retirement to compete in exhibition bouts against celebrities, combat sports athletes or other former boxers. The likes of Roy Jones Jr and Evander Holyfield have both stepped back into the ring in recent years. As have Mayweather and Tyson. The former came out of retirement to take on Logan Paul, Deji Olatunji and Aaron Chalmers among others in exhibition bouts, while the latter lost to Jake Paul in an official boxing match.

Now, they’re set to face each other and what would have been considered a dream match with both men being two of the greatest boxers ever, but with Tyson closing in on his 60th birthday, it’s safe to say his best days are long behind him and one of Mayweather’s former opponents is worried about Iron Mike’s chances and his health.

Ricky Hatton is Concerned For Tyson

During Mayweather’s prime, in the middle of his dominance across boxing, he faced off against Ricky Hatton. The Brit was also undefeated at the time, with an incredible 43-0 record heading into their bout in 2007. He was no match for Money, though, and experienced his greatness firsthand via a 10th round TKO loss. As a result, he knows exactly what Money can do and he’s worried about Tyson following the announcement of their match next year.

Shortly before the 59-year-old’s loss to Jake Paul, his health was brought under the spotlight when it was reported that he’d almost died just months earlier due to an ulcer flare-up onboard a plane. As a result, Hatton has slammed those around Tyson who are allowing him to get into the ring with someone like Mayweather and he thinks the former heavyweight champion will merely be a punching bag for his opponent.

Speaking exclusively to Metro, Hatton said:

“In normal circumstances, given the size difference, you would probably be more worried about Floyd’s well-being, but I think the opposite. I don’t think Mike will get near him and he’ll be a human punching bag to be honest. Mike’s approaching sixty, and you saw from his last fight that he’s well and truly past it. I think Mike could really end up getting hurt. I’m not sure I even believe it yet, to be honest, but it would be bad for boxing if it is allowed.

“There’s no winner. If Mike somehow hits Floyd and flattens him, then people will say ‘Look at the size difference, it shouldn’t have been allowed’. But if Floyd goes in there and boxes his head off and uses him as a punching bag then people will say ‘We knew that was going to happen.’ So there’s no positives to come out of it except a lot of dough, which clearly is the only thing people are thinking about.”

The contest is set to take place sometime in Spring 2026 with the location and venue yet to be disclosed.

Canelo Didn’t Have To Think Twice When Asked If Terence Crawford Is Better Than Floyd Mayweather

Canelo Alvarez is just a few days away from his much anticipated clash with fellow pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford.

The 35-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico will defend his undisputed super-middleweight championship against the unbeaten American at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday night, with the event broadcast live worldwide on Netflix.

Canelo will be looking to add yet another huge name to his decorated resume, which includes the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Miguel Cotto, Sergey Kovalev and Shane Mosley to name just a few.

Another legendary fighter that Canelo has shared the ring with is five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather, who handed the Mexican superstar the first defeat of his tenure when they clashed for the WBC light-middleweight title in Las Vegas back in 2013.

In an interview with The Sun. Canelo was asked who he believes is the better fighter out of his former rival Mayweather and ‘Bud’ Crawford.

“I think Crawford is better than Mayweather because he turns his guard to both sides, he’s more intelligent. I think he’s better than Floyd Mayweather. That’s what I think.”

Crawford will be looking to become the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed championship in three weight classes when he faces Canelo on Saturday, having already achieved this at super-lightweight and welterweight respectively.

The 37-year-old from Omaha has made the move up to 168lbs ahead of this weekend’s clash, which has been dubbed by many boxing fans and analysts around the world as ‘The Fight Of The Century’.

Terence Crawford is days away from his mega fight against Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas.

With just over a week remaining, news of another big fight hit the boxing world like a freight truck. Coming off his unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul last year, Mike Tyson is returning to the ring one more time to square off against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather next year for an exhibition fight. And Crawford just made things interesting.

The two-weight undisputed champion appeared on the Full Send Podcast with host Kyle Forgeard. The pair discussed a plethora of subjects, including his upcoming bout, but the real fun began when Forgeard brought up Mayweather and Tyson. He pressed Terence Crawford about his thoughts on facing both fighters in their prime, asking for a prediction in both scenarios from the Nebraskan technician. And Crawford didn’t hold anything back with his answers.

Terence Crawford has zero doubt about his take

“Me,” Crawford quickly responded when asked who would win in a fight between a prime Floyd Mayweather and himself. “Why would you think that I would say Floyd?” Stunned by Crawford’s confidence, Forgeard admitted he expected Crawford to hesitate. But ‘Bud’ doubled down, clarifying, “No, not at all.” Still, he made sure to acknowledge that Mayweather was one of the fighters he admired during his prime.

When asked about past greats he would have loved to face, the undefeated champion rattled off a list of legends. “It’s a lot, you know,” Crawford said. “If I [could] go back in history, it’d be Roberto Durán. It’d be Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, those types of fighters.” The host then posed a hypothetical: a prime-for-prime matchup with Mike Tyson, if Tyson had been Crawford’s size.

“If Mike Tyson [were] my size… I would beat him, easy…,” Crawford declared. He even broke down what made Tyson so dangerous in his era. “I think Mike Tyson beat those guys because he was faster and more explosive than those heavyweight guys. When you look at Mike Tyson back in the day, he was ferocious. You know, this is speed and power and explosiveness combined like they couldn’t keep up with it.”

Clearly, Crawford thinks he can beat both Tyson and Mayweather, but what is the secret to overcoming such skilled opponents?

Crawford reveals how to beat Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather may have looked undefeatable throughout his illustrious career, as he took over the sport of boxing and retired undefeated. However, Terence Crawford thinks there’s a way of beating Floyd Mayweather. During an appearance on the Ring Champs podcast, the 37-year-old revealed the secret to penetrating Mayweather’s defense.

Crawford joked, “You’ve got to have four arms and six eyes to beat Floyd.” He also admitted he would have taken the fight had their relationship been different at the time. “Floyd yeah [I would’ve fought him] because I wasn’t as close, me and Floyd are close now, but when Floyd was boxin,g I wasn’t as close with Floyd like I am now.”

Floyd Mayweather’s precision shocked me – I thought it was an exhibition, then he cracked me in the eye

“I wasn’t fearful of his power, but the precision was unbelievable,” Aaron Chalmers tells talkSPORT.com.

The 38-year-old from Newcastle is reflecting on a wild period of his career when he boxed Floyd Mayweather, ahead of his own return to fighting later this month.

Chalmers makes his second bare-knuckle boxing appearance on September 27 at BKFC 81 in Manchester.

The build-up to his fight with Jack Fincham has allowed ‘The Joker’ a moment to look back on how he somehow found himself face-to-face with one of boxing’s all-time greats, despite having just one professional boxing bout to his name.

Mayweather sent shockwaves through the boxing world this week when he confirmed his return to face Mike Tyson in an exhibition bout next year.

Just two years ago, however, ‘Pretty Boy’ was scheduled to fight Muay Thai specialist Liam Harrison at London’s O2 Arena in February 2023.

When Harrison was forced to withdraw from the fight with a knee injury, Mayweather needed a last-minute opponent.

That’s when Chalmers tried his hand and sent a throwaway message to an old bodyguard from his days on the popular British TV show Geordie Shore.

Five weeks later, he was sharing the ring with the undefeated, five-weight world champion, while also becoming the first man to box Mayweather on British soil.

When Aaron Chalmers felt the wrath of Floyd Mayweather

“It was a crazy experience that I grabbed with both hands,” Chalmers said, reflecting on the opportunity.

“It was f***ing amazing, an amazing week, everything about it was just mad.

“I laugh about it because people pay money to go and have a picture with Floyd when he would come and do talks.

“Then there’s me getting paid a big lump of money to fight him. It was crazy.”

Chalmers tells a story of a confused delivery driver approaching his house only to find a huge canvas depicting the Newcastle man in the ring with Mayweather.

“He thought I’d put them two pictures together! It brought a little smirk on my face,” he said.

Chalmers looks back on the experience fondly now, yet his smile was quickly wiped when Mayweather threw the first punch in their bout two years ago.

Being in the ring with Mayweather is one thing, but taking a punch from him is something else entirely, with a 59-year-old Tyson set to be in the same position soon.

“He led me into a trap in the first round,” Chalmers explains, discussing the brilliance of his opponent.

“We walked out, and I came out with my guard, and he was just [playing] with his hands.

Mayweather’s precision ‘was unbelievable’ Chalmers says

“So I thought, ‘Oh, it’s an exhibition. He just wants to play.’ I dropped my hands, and I went to touch his hand, and he just went f***ing crack and hit me straight in the eye.

“I said, ‘You dirty b******. We’re in a fight now.’ But he properly let me into a false sense.

“I thought he wasn’t taking it seriously.’ Then, as soon as he seen my hands up, he cracked me straight in the eye.

“I wouldn’t say he was powerful. I wasn’t fearful of his power, but the precision was unbelievable.

“He hit me with a body shot, I dropped my hand, and then he hit me on the head.

“I was like, ‘I’m gonna have to take another one to the head. I’m not taking another body shot — no way.’

“Because the precision was just there, and I thought, ‘I’m not taking another one of the body — no chance.’”

The bout wound up going the distance, with no official winner declared after all eight rounds.

Chalmers is now just a matter of weeks away from entering the combat world once again.

When is Chalmers fighting next?

He faces former Love Island star Fincham, who is making his debut, under the banner of Conor McGregor’s BKFC promotion on September 27.

The card is headlined by the return of former IBF super-middleweight champion James DeGale, who takes on Matt Floyd in his first professional fight since losing to Chris Eubank Jr in February 2019.

Chalmers goes into his bout with Fincham as the far more experienced competitor, having clocked a 5-2 professional MMA record since entering the sport in 2017.

While he confirms ‘yes and no’ to learning from his experiences with Mayweather, the Geordie admits he might have given his former foe too much respect in the ring.

“I feel like I was too respectful, far too respectful towards him, because of who he was,” he concluded.

“It was an exhibition, wasn’t going on any records, and looking back now, I was far, far too respectful.

“I’m not going to let that ruin what it was, but I just know looking back now, I could have given a lot, a lot more.

“But like I say… It was a five-week turnaround, and I didn’t really have time to think about it.

“I was on talkSPORT, I had Sky Sports at my house. Everything was such a whirlwind. We were trying to lose 12 kilos in five weeks.

“And then before you know it, I was in there. I was just like, ‘Well, what the f*** is going on here?

“I’m in the ring with Floyd Mayweather. It was a mad whirlwind of five weeks.”

Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson to fight each other in blockbuster 2026 showdown… and both have ALREADY signed contracts

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, two of boxing’s most legendary names, are set to face off against each other in 2026 in a blockbuster exhibition fight.

Both iconic fighters are long retired from the sport but will pull on the gloves once again for a spring showdown, and contracts are already signed, per TMZ.

Tyson, 59, sparked serious health concerns when he returned to the ring last year for an exhibition against Jake Paul, and a match-up against an opponent like Mayweather is set to further increase that.

Though Mayweather himself is 48 – and will be 49 by the time he steps back in the ring – he holds a 50-0 professional record and is still in incredible shape.

The match between two of the sport’s most legendary figures will be put on by CSI Sports and Fight Sports, and an exact date and location are yet to be decided.

When Tyson last fought – a loss against YouTube sensation Paul – it took place live on Netflix at the Dallas Cowboys‘ AT&T Stadium.

In a statement released to TMZ, Tyson said of the announcement: ‘This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen.

‘However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable – and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.

‘I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!’

Mayweather also responded to the news, claiming: ‘I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy.

‘You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.’

Mayweather last fought professionally in 2017 against Conor McGregor in one of the most-watched fights in history, though he has stepped back into the ring multiple times since.

His last fight was a second exhibition against John Gotti III in August 2024 in Mexico City.

A remarkable 108 million people tuned in on Netflix to Tyson’s fight with Paul last year, and early indications are that this showdown between two of boxing’s biggest legends could draw even more excitement.

Floyd Mayweather Reportedly Spotted Yachting With Ex Shantel Jackson

Floyd Mayweather has once again found himself in the spotlight—this time off the boxing stage and on the water.

The undefeated champion was recently spotted yachting with someone who appeared to be his former fiancée, Shantel “Miss Jackson” Jackson, sparking a wave of speculation across social media.

The sighting came to light through a viral TikTok clip that showed Mayweather and Jackson side by side on a luxury yacht.

Fans quickly filled the comments section with theories, debating whether the two were enjoying a friendly outing or testing the waters of reconciliation. For a pair whose relationship ended publicly over a decade ago, the imagery alone was enough to reignite curiosity.

Mayweather and Jackson’s story dates back to 2006, when they first met. Their relationship became one of the boxer’s most high-profile romances throughout the 2010s, but by 2013, it had ended in a dramatic split that involved legal disputes and constant headlines.

After their breakup, Jackson went on to date rapper Nelly in a long-term relationship, while Mayweather continued to dominate conversations both in and out of the ring, though he never officially stepped out with anyone else following his time with “Miss Jackson.”

Floyd Mayweather Reportedly Spotted Yachting With Ex Shan...

What makes this reunion especially intriguing is the timing. Not long ago, Jackson made headlines with a bold Instagram post: “Never spinnin’ the block,” she wrote, a phrase widely understood as never returning to a past relationship.

While many interpreted the statement as closure following her split from Nelly in 2021, others saw it as a definitive stance on exes in general—including Mayweather.

Nelly, of course, has rekindled his relationship with Ashanti, and the pair now share a son (and a well-received reality show).

With no official statements from either Mayweather or Jackson, fans are left to interpret the images on their own. Is this a rekindling of old flames or simply a pair of exes on good terms?

Floyd Mayweather Names The Opponent That Stood Out In His 50 Fight Career

Floyd Mayweather Jr is often regarded as being one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves.

He burst onto the scene during the late 1990, entering the paid ranks just a few months after he captured a Featherweight Bronze Medal at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

‘Money’ would go on to become a world champion in no less than five weight classes during his tenure, ranging from super-featherweight up to super-welterweight where he defeated the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao along the way.

Known for his outstanding defensive skills, Mayweather remained unbeaten throughout the course of his 21-year professional career, defeating each and every one of the 50 opponents that he crossed paths with.

Speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game Podcast, Mayweather gave an insight into his 2015 ‘Fight of the Century’ with Filipino icon Pacquiao and reveals exactly why ‘PacMan’ was the best fighter he ever faced.

“The best fighter I ever fought probably was Manny Pacquiao.

“It’s because of his movement. He’s a hell of a fighter, and I can see why he won so many fights, and I can see why he’s going down as a Hall of Famer. It’s just certain moves he makes.”

Although their monumental showdown in Las Vegas failed to live up to expectations, boxing fans were treated with a fight for the ages when the former pound-for-pound stars locked horns for the unified welterweight championship in May of 2015.

Mayweather got the nod on all three of the judges scorecards on the night, handing the Filipino icon the sixth defeat of his glittering professional career, where he became a world champion in eight weight divisions, a record breaking accomplishment for one of the greatest fighters to have ever graced the sport.

Canelo Alvarez Can Secure The One Fight He Wants Most If He Beats Terence Crawford

Canelo Alvarez‘s highly anticipated ‘super-fight’ with Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford is fast approaching and there is an extra carrot being dangled with a win.

The 35-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico is set to defend his undisputed super-middleweight world championship against the unbeaten American on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo has proved himself to be a dominant force at 168lbs since he made the move up from middleweight back in 2018, racking up victories over the likes of Jermell Charlo, Callum Smith, Jaime Munguia and Gennady Golovkin along the way. He has lost just twice in his career, to Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol.

Bivol handed the Mexican great a points defeat when they clashed in 2022 for the Russian’s light-heavyweight title. Canelo has since said that it is the one fight he wants in the future, desperate to avenge the loss.

Speaking to World Boxing News, Bivol’s manager Vadim Kornilov claimed that the Russian star is indeed open to facing Canelo next, but questions whether the 35-year-old does actually want to do battle once again.

“I am not sure if Canelo actually wants the fight. We heard many times that he does want to avenge his loss, but if everything goes well with rehab, Bivol should be ready to fight in the first quarter of next year.”

Bivol defeated Canelo via unanimous decision when they clashed at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas back in May of 2022, successfully defending his WBA world light-heavyweight title in the process.

The 34-year-old from Russia would go on to achieve his dream of becoming the undisputed champion at 175lbs in February of this year, defeating Artur Beterbiev via majority decision in their thrilling rematch in Riyadh, gaining revenge for the defeat that he suffered at the hands of his fellow countryman back in October.

Talk of a trilogy has dampened, though Kornilov says it is still on the table and that his charge wants no tune-up fights after recovering from back surgery. Beterbiev is out on November 22 against Deon Nicholson. Also on the table for Bivol in 2026 is David Benavidez, who faces Anthony Yarde on that same card.

First up is Canelo-Crawford, with the Mexican potentially calling out Bivol post-fight should he win, but more likely a rematch with Crawford if he loses.

Floyd Mayweather’s Forgotten Advice to Gervonta Davis Resurfaces Amid Jake Paul Fight Buzz

Who could have predicted that the decision Floyd Mayweather made on a random day in 2015 would change the boxing world forever? Signing a young, up-and-coming fighter like Gervonta Davis, who had fewer than 10 fights at the time, was certainly a gamble. But it turned out to be one of Mayweather’s best investments. The Baltimore southpaw’s meteoric rise to superstardom is undeniable, and Mayweather played a major role in shaping that journey. Yet, in recent years, their relationship has soured. Since their split, both men have traded subtle shots at each other online, hinting at a rift that runs deeper than business.

As Mayweather marked his 48th birthday, Gervonta Davis seemed to take another dig at his former promoter, posting a training clip captioned: “Life is better when you’re gone and I don’t need ya… #TheONE.” Now, with Tank Davis choosing to face Jake Paul instead of pursuing the Lamont Roach Jr. rematch, an old piece of advice from Mayweather has resurfaced, suggesting that Tank may simply be carrying forward the mindset instilled in him by his former mentor. So what did Mayweather say?

Why Gervonta Davis needs to trust his heart

Yesterday, Boxing Pro took to X to share a TikTok clip with the caption: “Gervonta Tank Davis really just followed the Floyd Mayweather blueprint 💯 💰🐐 #TBE #TankPaul.” The video showed a young Davis on Mayweather’s private jet, seated beside his mentor and listening closely. In the clip, Mayweather offered advice, saying: “If you doing good, they got something to say. If you’re doing bad, they got something to say. So do what makes you happy. Because you see this jet? You see this private jet that we on? I got it because I did what the fu-k I wanted to do.”

Mayweather, whose net worth is reported at $400 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, remains the richest boxer of all time. Just last year, he invested $402 million in a 1,000-unit affordable housing project in Upper Manhattan, featuring 62 buildings. Alongside that, he owns a $40 million car collection and two private jets. For Money Mayweather, the key to all of it was living life and running his career on his own terms. As he told young Davis: “I made over a billion dollars, you know why? Because I did what the fu-k I wanted to do. I am gonna always tell Tank, do what the fu-k you wanna do.”

The undefeated legend also shared a reminder about the burden of success. Speaking directly to Davis, he said, “You always remember this, jealousy comes with success. Anytime you successful, people gonna be jealous of you. People not always gonna like you. Sometimes when you in class, some people don’t like you. When you in school, right? But that don’t stop you from going right? And you still going to be your best, right? So same thing like my job. I still go there and be at my best. As long as you love me, can’t nobody beat me.”

Now, Gervonta Davis is under fire from boxing purists for accepting a bizarre matchup against Jake Paul, with a staggering 65-pound gap. If the 30-0 boxer is truly following Mayweather’s advice, it suggests he wants to retire undefeated, transition into exhibitions, and maximize earnings. The danger, however, is that, unlike Mayweather, who left behind an untouchable legacy, Gervonta Davis risks walking away with unfinished business. By choosing this path, he could avoid high-stakes showdowns with Shakur Stevenson or even a rematch with Lamont Roach. With his exhibition against Jake Paul now officially set for November 14, 2025, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, streaming live on Netflix, the move has drawn heavy criticism. And now, a veteran journalist has gone so far as to condemn the spectacle, calling it a heartbreaking symbol of American boxing’s collapse.

Caution or collapse? The career gamble facing Gervonta Davis

A few days ago, Denis Shkuratov of Submission Radio sat down with veteran journalist Luke Thomas and asked for his thoughts on the upcoming Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis fight. Without hesitation, Thomas responded: “By and large, Jake Paul’s fights su-k a–.” He elaborated, saying: “Everyone knows the score. If they were the same size, Gervonta would lay him out pretty easily. But they’re not. There’s a gigantic difference.” Thomas then posed the question: “Like again, who has got better boxing skill?” before answering it himself: “Gervonta by a million miles.” He added, “And if it’s an exhibition, I don’t think it goes on the record, or maybe they’ll fudge the rule somehow. But dude, Jake Paul could win that.”

However, what shocked Thomas most wasn’t Jake Paul’s skill but the potential outcome being dictated by size. He admitted, “That’s kind of crazy to think. Not because he is better, but because again the advantage concerned is the enormous size difference. It’s interesting… but it just feels like—Jesus, this is the best you can do in American boxing? That is bad.” And bad? Yes, Thomas made it clear he believes its very bad.

For context, Gervonta Davis was already a rising star at 18, winning the 2012 National Golden Gloves Championship, while The Problem Child at that time was building a following on Vine, amassing 5.3 million fans and over 2 billion views by 2015, without any ties to boxing. Although Paul has undeniably improved since turning professional in 2020, a fight with Gervonta Davis does nothing to advance his pursuit of a world title. Instead, it looks more like a money grab than a quest for greatness. In Thomas’ eyes, that’s why it represents the collapse of American boxing.
