As CountDown Begins: Crawford Reveals One thing He Won’t Hold Onto When the Bell Rings Against Canelo Alvarez

Terence Crawford may have it all to gain on September 13th against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, but he will lose one thing when he steps into the ring.

The fight against the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo gives Crawford a chance to make history by potentially being the first male to become a three-weight undisputed titleholder in the four-belt era.

While some say he is poised to have the ‘night of his life’ against Alvarez, it is still unknown exactly how he will adapt to the fifth weight class of his career against an established 168 lb king.

His last undisputed title came during his greatest career performance against Errol Spence Jr in a huge grudge match, which crowned ‘Bud’ the best welterweight of his generation with a ninth stoppage.

Terence Crawford will immediately lose one thing when he steps into the ring for the Canelo Alvarez fight

He is known for winning belts in multiple weight classes in style, with six knockouts in a seven-fight run in the super lightweight division to pick up all the belts.

But his most recent title win in the super welterweight division, in a fight where he was ‘pushed to the limit’ against Israil Madrimov, gained him another accolade.

The win made him the WBA champion, but the Omaha fighter has not defended it since the victory, instead opting to hold out for the super-fight against Alvarez.

This decision has now led the WBA president, Gilberto Mendoza Jr, to confirm, via Dan Rafael, that once the 37-year-old hears the sound of the bell, he will lose his title.

“He’s Gonna Prove It to the World: Why There’s a Blueprint to Beat Canelo—But None to Stop Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford on September 13”

The countdown has begun, and the boxing world is bracing for one of the most electrifying nights in modern history. On September 13, two titans of the sport will collide, but the conversation is already leaning toward one undeniable truth: Canelo Álvarez may be beatable, but Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford remains unsolved.

For years, critics and analysts have dissected Canelo’s style. He’s powerful, relentless, and decorated with titles across multiple divisions, yet many still believe he carries flaws. Fighters have showcased the cracks in his armor—whether it was Floyd Mayweather’s schooling, Dmitry Bivol’s precision, or even Gennady Golovkin’s punishing pressure. In other words, the boxing community has seen what it takes to beat Canelo. There’s a blueprint.

But when the conversation shifts to Terence Crawford, everything changes.

The Mystery of Crawford

Crawford isn’t just undefeated—he’s untouched. He adapts mid-fight like a chess grandmaster, seamlessly switching from orthodox to southpaw, dismantling opponents who once believed they had the key to breaking him down. The reality is harsher: no one has ever unlocked Crawford.

From dismantling champions like Errol Spence Jr. in shocking fashion to asserting his dominance against Kell Brook, Shawn Porter, and Viktor Postol, Crawford has consistently proven there is no one-size-fits-all strategy to beat him. His unpredictability, timing, and ability to neutralize strengths make him a puzzle that fighters simply cannot solve.

As one insider boldly declared: “There’s a blueprint to beat Canelo—but there’s no blueprint to beat Bud.”

September 13: The Day of Reckoning

On September 13, the lights will be brighter than ever. Canelo, the Mexican superstar, steps into the ring with pride, legacy, and redemption on the line. Crawford, meanwhile, walks in as the man with everything to gain—legacy, respect, and the opportunity to etch his name into the greatest of all time conversation.

For Crawford, this isn’t just another fight. It’s a statement. He’s gonna prove it to the world. The whispers about him being too small, too untested at super middleweight, or incapable of handling Canelo’s raw power will all be silenced—if he walks away victorious.

The Stakes Have Never Been Higher

This isn’t just about titles, money, or fame. This is about history. A Crawford victory could forever tilt the balance of boxing’s narrative: from the dominance of Canelo Álvarez, the sport’s biggest superstar, to the brilliance of a fighter many are now daring to call the most complete boxer of his generation.

For Canelo, a win reaffirms his position as boxing’s face and the indomitable force at super middleweight. For Crawford, it means immortality.

Final Word

There’s no denying it—September 13 could change the sport forever. One fighter carries the weight of proven greatness with visible cracks in his foundation. The other, an undefeated genius, waiting to show that his brilliance has no limits.

Terence Crawford

The world is watching. The stakes are higher than ever. And when the bell rings, we may finally discover the answer to boxing’s biggest question: Is there truly no blueprint to beat Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford?

“Michael Conlan Boldly Backs ‘Bud’ to Pull Off the Shock Upset”Stunned by Intense Canelo-Crawford Face-Off

Terence “Bud” Crawford is a +140 underdog at Bet MGM to defeat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on Sep. 13, but you would struggle to realize it after hearing the opinions of those involved in the sport.

Crawford seems to be favored by many, at least within the boxing fraternity, to defy logic and dethrone Alvarez of his undisputed super middleweight titles and make history as the first-ever three-weight male undisputed champion of the four-belt era at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“I’m like [50-50]. I’ll flip-flop if I go too early. But when I watched the face-off and I [saw] Bud step to him and I [saw] Canelo’s face, I leaned towards Bud now,” featherweight contender Michael Conlan told Uncrowned and DAZN’s “Ariel x Ade” show last week. “At the start, I leaned toward Canelo because he’s so big, and [usually] the better big man beats the better smaller man.

“But Bud is just so game and one of the best fighters, pound-for-pound, of our generation, and I like him as a person. He’s a great guy. I think Bud just has the edge now. Canelo is probably starting to kind of go on the slide. Not much — he’s still an unbelievable fighter, one of the best of this generation as well. It’s an interesting fight, but something about that face-off made me go, Bud’s got this.'”

Conlan’s fellow Irishman, the Dana White-backed prospect Callum Walsh, took over from Conlan as the Irish headlining act for St. Patrick’s Day weekend in New York. Now with Conlan and Katie Taylor heading toward the finish line in their storied careers, Walsh will look to take the next step in becoming the new face of Irish boxing with a win over Fernando Vargas Jr. in the Alvarez vs. Crawford co-feature.

“Callum is a fantastic fighter. [He’s] a great man. He can do big things in boxing,” Conlan said of Walsh. “He’s got the backing of Zuffa Boxing [Dana White]. They’ve been behind him with Tom Loeffler [360 Promotions] from the start, which has been fantastic. He’s probably more well-known in UFC audiences than boxing audiences because he’s been fighting on [UFC] Fight Pass a lot. But I think he’s the real deal. I think he knocks out Vargas. I don’t think Vargas is the best of the brothers, I think Emiliano [is]. I rate that kid so highly, he’s a fantastic fighter. I would say Fernando is second and Amado last.”

While Walsh is touted to be the future, Conlan realizes that his days as the present of Irish boxing are coming to a close. The former WBA title challenger confirmed to Uncrowned that while his Sep. 5 date with Jack Bateson will not be his last appearance in a boxing ring, it is part of his final run in the sport.

“[My next fight is] definitely not [my] final fight,” Conlan insisted to Uncrowned. “[But] it’s the last roll of the dice. I’ll roll ’em and see how far they go. People say, ‘This is the best training camp I’ve had,’ and all this. I’m not gonna say it’s the best training camp I’ve [ever] had, but it’s the best I’ve been inside and outside the ring mentally and physically, and I’m in a great position.”

Gervonta davis“I have no weight on my shoulders, no kind of worries. What will be will be. I’m at peace with that, so there’s no pressure. I can just go in and enjoy myself, and that’s what I plan to do for the rest of this career. I [still] want to get a world title. I’m aiming towards that. I think I can still do it. I believe I can still do it.”

Bateson, whose lone career defeat came to Shabaz Masoud in a November 2022 British title final eliminator, is a long way away from the world level at 126 pounds, but with Conlan having only an eight-round bout in the bank since brutal back-to-back stoppage defeats in 2023, it provides a measuring stick to ascertain what level Conlan is — and can still compete at for the remainder of his career.

Canelo Alvarez Can Secure The One Fight He Wants Most If He Beats Terence Crawford

Canelo Alvarez‘s highly anticipated ‘super-fight’ with Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford is fast approaching and there is an extra carrot being dangled with a win.

The 35-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico is set to defend his undisputed super-middleweight world championship against the unbeaten American on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo has proved himself to be a dominant force at 168lbs since he made the move up from middleweight back in 2018, racking up victories over the likes of Jermell Charlo, Callum Smith, Jaime Munguia and Gennady Golovkin along the way. He has lost just twice in his career, to Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol.

Bivol handed the Mexican great a points defeat when they clashed in 2022 for the Russian’s light-heavyweight title. Canelo has since said that it is the one fight he wants in the future, desperate to avenge the loss.

Speaking to World Boxing News, Bivol’s manager Vadim Kornilov claimed that the Russian star is indeed open to facing Canelo next, but questions whether the 35-year-old does actually want to do battle once again.

“I am not sure if Canelo actually wants the fight. We heard many times that he does want to avenge his loss, but if everything goes well with rehab, Bivol should be ready to fight in the first quarter of next year.”

Bivol defeated Canelo via unanimous decision when they clashed at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas back in May of 2022, successfully defending his WBA world light-heavyweight title in the process.

The 34-year-old from Russia would go on to achieve his dream of becoming the undisputed champion at 175lbs in February of this year, defeating Artur Beterbiev via majority decision in their thrilling rematch in Riyadh, gaining revenge for the defeat that he suffered at the hands of his fellow countryman back in October.

Talk of a trilogy has dampened, though Kornilov says it is still on the table and that his charge wants no tune-up fights after recovering from back surgery. Beterbiev is out on November 22 against Deon Nicholson. Also on the table for Bivol in 2026 is David Benavidez, who faces Anthony Yarde on that same card.

First up is Canelo-Crawford, with the Mexican potentially calling out Bivol post-fight should he win, but more likely a rematch with Crawford if he loses.

Terence Crawford’s new physique stuns boxing fans ahead of Canelo fight

Terence Crawford stunned boxing fans with his new physique ahead of his high-stakes super-fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, the 13th of September at the Allegiant Stadium — home of NFL franchise Las Vegas Raiders.

American boxer Crawford has a monumental task ahead of him due to the weight differential. ‘Bud’ last fought at 154 pounds and defeated Israil Madrimov by decision after 12 rounds. Previously, he had been campaigning at 147 pounds. But, next month, he leaves those weight classes behind, to skip the middleweight (160 pounds) division to challenge Canelo for the champion’s undisputed world championships at 168 pounds.

Terence Crawford lands a punch on Madrimov

Crawford recently posted a series of photographs to his Instagram account alongside the caption: “Warrior mentality.” Fans got to see just how much strongher his biceps, shoulders, and upper body looked as he prepares to battle Canelo.

Fans quickly flocked to the comments to express their respect for the fighter. One fan said: “Greatness loading,” while others said things like: “You’ll win via TKO 11th round.”

Despite his new look, other fans weren’t convinced he’ll leave the Las Vegas stadium with the win. “Respect bro, but you’re done in nine [rounds],” one said.

Canelo is the bookmakers’ favorite due to his experience at the weight — he’s battle-tested at super middleweight.

The marquee event headlines a four-fight card, with more bouts likely to be added, including Callum Walsh vs Fernando Vargas at super welterweight, Christian Mbilli against Lester Martinez at 168, and Mohammaed Alakel vs John Ornelas at super featherweight.

Terence Crawford Surrenders to Floyd Mayweather: A Message Before His Fight With Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez

Israil Madrimov Pinpoints Crucial Mistake Terence Crawford Must Avoid Against Canelo Alvarez

Terence crawford’s most recent opponent Israil Madrimov got honest about Crawford’s fight against Canelo Alvarez.

The biggest boxing fight on the 2025 calendar is now less than a month away, as Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to square off on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are a lot of questions heading into this fight. Perhaps the biggest is how Crawford will fare, given that he’s moving up three full weight classes to face off against Canelo. Adding on that much weight typically doesn’t bode well for fighters, and given that so much of Crawford’s game is about speed and precision, some are worried that his decision to bulk up for this fight could lead to his downfall.

Nobody has a better idea of Crawford’s current form than Israil Madrimov, given that he was Crawford’s most recent opponent. These two fought on August 3, 2024, in Los Angeles, and Crawford secured a unanimous decision victory in what was his first fight in the super welterweight division.

Israil Madrimov Talks Canelo vs Crawford Fight

Madrimov spoke with Fight Hub TV for an interview that was released on August 15. And at one point in the discussion, Madrimov delivered his verdict on how this Canelo vs Crawford fight will play out.

“Hard pick. In my opinion, if Terence is Terence, if he’s not gonna gain weight, if he’s just gonna be himself weighing in under the 168 limit and just being himself, I see it as a 50/50 fight,” Madrimov said through an interpreter. “I believe that Terence can win on points, can do great.

“But if he’s gonna gain weight and if he’s gonna try to compete with Canelo where Canelo is good at and strong, then I see Canelo as a favorite. And I see Canelo maybe being able to catch and hurt Terence, if he tried to work in his field, where Canelo is good.”

At another point, Madrimov added, “I believe [Crawford] can do whatever, and I believe he can adjust to whatever. The question is how the physicality is going to be, how [Crawford] is going to react, and in my opinion, the only thing Terence should avoid is gaining weight. That’s what I wouldn’t do. I wouldn’t try to compete with Canelo in that department, just being bigger, bulkier, stronger. I don’t think that that’s a good idea.”

Madrimov will just be like the rest of the boxing world in watching this iconic fight take place next month.

Andy Ruiz Reveals The ‘Trouble’ Canelo Alvarez Might Have Against Terence Crawford

One reason why the September 13 fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is considered one of the biggest boxing bouts in recent memory is because of Canelo’s gigantic fan base.

While Canelo is a global icon, there’s no question that a huge chunk of his fan base stems from Mexico, as Canelo has represented his home country loudly and proudly throughout his legendary career. As a result, Mexican boxing fans (and the mainstream public) have gotten behind Canelo and remained loyal to him through wins and losses alike.

And they also show up in droves to support Canelo in person whenever he fights. This is a significant reason why Canelo almost always fights in Las Vegas (as is this upcoming fight against Crawford), so that his fans from Mexico don’t have to travel far to witness him going into battle firsthand.

Andy Ruiz Speaks on Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Fight

Not only are Mexican fans big supporters of Canelo, but his boxing peers from Mexico also typically show him a lot of love and respect.

There aren’t any bigger (physically speaking) Mexican boxers than Andy Ruiz right now. And Ruiz kept it real when speaking about Canelo vs Crawford during his interview with FightHype on August 16.

When asked who wins between Canelo and Crawford, Ruiz said, “It’s gonna be a good fight, man. I’m going for Canelo, of course. You know he’s a Mexican warrior as well. But Crawford, man. You can’t neglect him, or you can’t underestimate him as well, you know? He has a lot of skills, a lot of movement. He’s a lefty as well, that’s what Canelo has trouble with.”

“I think it’s gonna be an amazing fight, man. I just can’t wait. And the best man wins,” Ruiz added. He went on to talk about how the weight jump is significant for Crawford, and seemed to suggest that’s going to have an impact on the fight’s outcome.

While Ruiz didn’t offer a clear prediction of who he thinks is going to win the bout, he is siding with Canelo, if only because they share the same Mexican heritage. But his pinpointing that Canelo has trouble with lefties is interesting.

It will be interesting to see how much of a factor this weight jump for Crawford ends up being, along with how much Crawford weighs on fight night when going toe to toe against Canelo, given that he’s jumping up three weight classes to fight him.

Turki Alalshikh’s Pivotal Move Gives Terence Crawford Edge Over Canelo Alvarez in $200M Superfight

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to face off in one of the biggest boxing fights in recent memory exactly one month from now, on September 13, in Las Vegas.

The boxing world has been buzzing with predictions and analysis for almost a year now, but few voices carry more weight than Amir Khan’s. The British boxing star, who faced and lost to both Canelo and Crawford during his career, isn’t just offering a winner prediction this time.

He’s also pointing to how His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, a key figure in organizing the bout, may have inadvertently played a major role in shaping the outcome of the match.

JUST IN: Anthony Joshua Draws Inspiration From Canelo as Jake Paul

While Khan had already shared his prediction for the massive $200 million superfight earlier this year, he elaborated further on the fight during his recent appearance on The PorterWay Podcast. “Crawford is a different type of fighter who holds muscle well, and who will put size on,” Khan said. He explained that with the extended preparation time that the Omaha native received, adjusting to the higher weight may not be as difficult as many have been predicting. “See Turki Alalshikh’s given him so much time, so much notice, so he can go in training camp, so he can combine that muscle, so he can hold that muscle, so he can start doing the heavy weights and everything,” Khan noted, implying that the year-long preparation window has likely allowed the 37-year-old to add size and strength more effectively.

Former world champion Shawn Porter, responding to Khan’s point, emphasized the difference between adding muscle strategically and simply bulking up. “A whole year to put on this kind of weight and again, like you’re saying, you are referring to the muscle. You got to understand when you are moving up weight classes, it’s how you move up. And obviously, moving up weight and putting on muscle to move up in weight is much different than just coming in as a blown-up fighter,” Porter explained.

To that, the 34-6 boxer agreed and also highlighted the timing difference between the two fighters’ preparations for each other. Canelo Alvarez is returning to the ring just four months after his victory over Cuban boxer William Schull in Riyadh, while Terence Crawford will be fighting a full year after his win over Israil Madrimov. Khan believes that the gap will prove advantageous for the two-division undisputed champion. “I think with one year notice, if you look at Crawford, since when the fight was announced, I think he has always been ticking over. He has always been doing a little bit in the gym, and now he is at it and now he is going in it hard,” Khan emphasized.

Pointing again to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s role in setting the schedule, the British former champion claimed, “I think Crawford’s been giving more to this and been training longer and harder than Canelo. I saw that Canelo [was] on a holiday when Crawford was in the gym. So them little small things make a big difference.” His comments suggest that while Canelo Alvarez may have stayed active in the ring, Crawford’s longer, more consistent preparation could be a deciding factor.

If that wasn’t enough, Amir Khan went further in assessing their mental and physical edges. “Though he [Canelo] has kept himself busy, but one thing about Crawford, bro, you can’t turn a blind eye. I mean, he is one of the type of guys that always pulls it off. That’s why he is undefeated… I just feel like Crawford has more left in him and has more to give because he has never tasted defeat before.” And that’s just one of the many reasons Amir Khan believes Canelo Alvarez would be wise not to underestimate his opponent on fight night.

Canelo Alvarez rules the division, but Terence Crawford could be his biggest test yet

Expanding on his point during the same podcast, Khan said, “Back in the day, when we used to see Crawford fight at lightweight or featherweight, we did not really give him that respect for power. We thought he was a good boxer, a technical fighter. But later, you can see he’s carried that power with the weight and the muscle.”

Khan pointed out that Crawford’s move into higher weight classes has only amplified his punching power, turning him into a more complete and dangerous fighter. “It’s a hard fight to call honestly because it just depends what type of fighters show up on the night,” Khan admitted to Shawn Porter, underlining that both men are capable of delivering top performances when at their best.

The British star also painted a vivid picture of Crawford’s physical presence, saying, “When he walks around weighing 170 or 175 pounds, he looks like a natural 175 guy.” For this reason, when the fight was announced, Khan immediately felt that Crawford would give Canelo Alvarez “a hell of a fight.” And while Khan believes the Nebraskan southpaw will likely win, even if he doesn’t, he seems confident in knowing exactly what it would take to beat Canelo.
