Joshua is in our prayers – Wilder

Deontay Wilder has told Anthony Joshua “to stay strong” and said his heavyweight rival is in his “prayers” following the death of two of the Briton’s friends in December.

Joshua suffered minor injuries in a road traffic accident in Nigeria on 29 December that killed Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

The three were passengers in a vehicle that collided with a stationary truck on a road near Lagos.

“In this boxing business we all are family,” Wilder told BBC Sport.

“So from another brother to another brother – stay encouraged, Anthony Joshua. Keep your head up, Anthony Joshua.

“Stay prayed up, bro, because you’ve still got life.”

Wilder, who fights Briton Derek Chisora on 4 April in London, said the crash brought up “old feelings” from the death of his cousin, who was killed in a car accident.

“It’s tough to find the words to tell a person, but know that you are in our prayers,” Wilder said.

“My words may not mean anything in this moment in time. Maybe later on.

“I don’t know where he is mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually, but I know that I will advise him to stay strong.”

Despite being long-time rivals, former heavyweight world champions Joshua and Wilder never shared the ring.

A proposed undisputed title fight collapsed in 2018 when Wilder held the WBC belt and Joshua was the WBA, WBO and IBF champion.

At a news conference on Wednesday Wilder discussed mental health struggles caused by issues in his personal life and said the “fire” is still in him as both he and Chisora prepare for their 50th professional fight.

“After two therapists and sports psychologists, here I am reinventing myself, reuniting myself. I know I’m back,” Wilder said.

Brendan Schaub mocks Canelo Alvarez for avoiding ‘Mexican Monster’

Since stepping away from fighting in 2015, the former UFC heavyweight has built a new career as a comedian and podcaster.

Brendan Schaub to Host Showtime Digital Sports Talk Show

He is well-known for sharing his opinions on MMA and boxing through his hit YouTube channel.

This past weekend, Schaub took that act to the Ring Awards in New York, where he was tasked with roasting a room full of boxers and personalities from across the sport.

Turki Alalshikh, one of the most influential figures in boxing, invited Schaub to the annual awards show.

The 42-year-old former fighter was asked to offer his perspective on the sport and poke fun at some of the notable guests.

Schaub did not hold back, making a joke about Canelo Alvarez steering clear of a match-up with David Benavidez, known as ‘The Mexican Monster’.

“I said, I think you don’t get enough credit for defense,” Schaub recalled on The Fighter and The Kid podcast he co-hosts with Bryan Callen.

“The way you dodge punches, jabs, uppercuts, David Benavidez. And then I stared at him and was all (sheepish).”

Schaub later shared how Canelo responded to his remark.

He said: “He was like this (folds arms).

“And then he goes (nods head). Usyk was laughing though. Oh yeah, Usyk was laughing.”

Canelo Alvarez closing in on return date

Since losing a decision to Terence Crawford back in September, Alvarez has not been back in the ring.

But that is about to change. He is expected to step back into the ring on September 12th, with the fight set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

While his opponent has not been named yet, Alalshikh has assured fans that it will be another big match-up for the Mexican star.

He explained: “It will be named ‘Mexico against the World’. All the fighters from the team of Canelo against the world and the champion in the main event, in a world title [fight].

“It will be a surprise in Saudi Arabia. Inshallah.”

Canelo Alvarez shares first reaction to Terence Crawford’s retirement

Canelo Alvarez has revealed his initial feelings on Terence Crawford retiring from the sport.

Crawford cemented his status as one of the greatest boxers in modern history when he defeated Canelo at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas back in September.

The victory came after ‘Bud’ stepped up two weight divisions to 168lbs for the clash, and despite being the underdog, he put in a stellar performance to win by unanimous decision and become undisputed super-middleweight champion.

Canelo had hoped to reclaim his belts, stating his intention after the fight to seek an immediate rematch with his rival, but those plans went up in smoke when Crawford announced his retirement in December, resulting in the super-middleweight titles fragmenting and ending up in the possession of several different fighters.

Canelo is set to return to action in September, with some believing he may have targeted those new champions and look to once again hold world honours at 168lbs.

It seems the Mexican superstar hasn’t given up hope of a rematch with ‘Bud’ though, as during a preview for an upcoming appearance on the Mr Verzace Podcast, Canelo was asked if he was upset when Crawford announced his retirement, and he made his view perfectly clear.

“We need to run it back.”

Boxing fans are still clamouring to see Crawford back in action, but everything from the man himself strongly points to his decision being final.

‘Joshua breaking Paul’s jaw will teach him lesson’

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski believes Jake Paul learned a valuable lesson after Anthony Joshua broke his jaw in two places during their December bout, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Jake Paul Loses to Anthony Joshua in Heavyweight Fight

Paul suffered a knockout loss to Joshua, losing every round on the scorecards, including a 10-7 fifth round after the British boxer delivered multiple knockdowns.

The end came in the sixth after Joshua connected with a brutal right hand that broke Paul’s jaw in two places, ending the fight via knockout.

“I didn’t like it, but Jake Paul had great condition for six rounds,” Arlovski said about the fight when speaking to MMA Fighting.

“Obviously, he ran around; it doesn’t matter. He got his broken jaw. It’s not good. Broken jaw in two places is going to take some time to heal it to get recovered. We’ll see.

“Hopefully, maybe yes, maybe not, he’s going to get back into boxing. But for now, he might understand people who spend 10, 15, 20 years in boxing and MMA,

it’s not like you’re training hard like last month in a boxing gym or something or do MMA. People spend their lives over there.”

“To me, it’s all the time it was kind of disrespectful to professional athletes, to boxers and MMA,” Arlovski said.

“(He’s saying) ‘oh we spent the last year in the boxing gym non-stop!’ My guy, I spent the last 25 years non-stop in the gym and not once, two or three times a day.

“You think you’re superhuman, you can come (and take a shortcut)? I tried to watch my mouth, don’t say a bad word, but it’s not cool. Let’s put it this way. It’s not cool.”

Paul started his career with an 11-1 record largely built around beating MMA fighters and past-their-prime boxers like Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Manny Pacquiao Joining TBL Casts Doubt on Floyd Mayweather Jr Rematch

Former eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao is set to return to boxing with the Team Boxing League, according to a media statement from the league.

“[Manny] Pacquiao will initially serve as a League Ambassador before transitioning into the ownership group. Most notably for fans, he is set to return to the ring as a Team Captain and active fighter for the San Diego TJ’s, one of the league’s newest expansion franchises,” said TBL in a press release.

The former senator in his native Philippines has signed to be part of the league through 2029. If he will compete beyond that season remains unclear.

Pacquiao will join the San Diego TJ’s this season, which has yet to be formed. While Pacquiao has a home in Southern California, he has no prior ties to San Diego, though his son, now a professional fighter, once competed in amateur matches there.

Joining the TBL, though, may nix the potential match between Pacquiao and his old nemesis, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

How big was Pacquiao vs Mayweather ?

The 2015 welterweight showdown between these two was billed as the “Fight of the Century.”
Mayweather won a unanimous verdict in the 12 rounds (118–110, 116–112, 116–112). It was a much closer affair than those scores show, and a rematch between the two would certainly attract a large number of casual fans

Pacquiao’s position as IBA vice president raised the possibility that the new fight between the two could be for the IBA title. The IBA is one of the oldest international boxing organizations, with roots developing amateur boxing going back into the early 20th century.

With Olympic boxing selection currently being conducted by a rival organization, the IBA has expanded its focus to other areas, including bare-knuckle boxing. They have also sanctioned a limited number of IBA world titles. The main appeal of such belts is that they are organized by the IBA with all the standards of a professional fight, but don’t affect a fighter’s professional record.

Bottom line: Mayweather’s claim to fame, his undefeated 50-0 record, would be safe if he were to step into the ring in the spring of 2026 against his Filipino rival for an IBA title.

Pacquiao brings star power to the TBL. The Hall of Fame fighter is increasingly expanding his role in the sport and will be a big asset for the league.

“I believe in the vision of TBL and what this league is building for the future of boxing,” said Manny Pacquiao. “Team boxing brings a new level of excitement, strategy, and opportunity for fighters and fans. I’m proud to be part of TBL and look forward to contributing both inside and outside the ring.”

Floyd Mayweather claims he has been robbed and cheated: “I am missing hundreds of millions of dollars”

Floyd Mayweather, undefeated boxing legend, claims that despite earning over a billion dollars in his career, hundreds of millions never reached him, and now he’s taking legal action against Showtime.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. | Biography & Facts | Britannica

The 50-0 fighter filed a lawsuit in California, alleging Showtime aided his former manager, Al Haymon, in diverting a “significant portion of his career earnings,” leaving Mayweather missing an estimated $340 million.

In the suit obtained by TMZ Sports, Floyd states he seeks to “recover hundreds of millions of dollars in the misappropriated funds and damages resulting from a long-running and elaborate scheme of financial fraud,” naming Showtime and former Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza as defendants.

Floyd is one of boxing’s biggest pay-per-view draws,” Mayweather‘s attorney, Bobby Samini, said. “He generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for Showtime.

Mr. Mayweather now takes this fight to the courtroom to recover what he rightfully earned. Retiring undefeated at 50-0, Mr. Mayweather will go the distance in the courtroom just as he has in the ring.”

Interestingly, HaymonMayweather‘s longtime advisor of more than a decade, is not being sued directly, though Floyd alleges the ex-manager received “substantial participation and aid” from the network and Espinoza in siphoning funds.

According to the filing, major fights-including his bouts with Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor-were impacted, with Mayweather claiming Showtime sent accounts controlled by Haymon, effectively delivering his earnings to the manager rather than to him.

Years later, after switching to a new management team, Mayweather requested access to Showtime’s financial records, only to be told they were “lost in a flood” or otherwise inaccessible, prompting further allegations of concealment and misconduct.

Floyd Mayweather Net Worth – How the Boxer Built His Fortune

Mayweather‘s wealth stems from decades at the top of boxing, where he became one of the sport’s biggest pay-per-view draws, generating substantial revenue for networks, promoters, and sponsors.

He capitalized on high-profile fights, including Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor, commanding historic purses and endorsement deals that made him a major financial figure in sports.

His fight earnings reportedly exceeded $1.1 billion, though his net worth is estimated between $400 million and $500 million, factoring in taxes, spending, and investments.

A core source of wealth is Mayweather Promotions, which earned millions by organizing and monetizing major bouts. His apparel brand, The Money Team (TMT), generates additional income, while exhibition fights continue to bring in substantial payouts.

Mayweather has also invested in luxury real estate in Las Vegas, Miami, and New York City through Vada Properties, including residential and commercial holdings worth hundreds of millions, producing ongoing income.

Beyond property and promotions, he has business interests in cryptocurrency, NFTs, and fitness ventures, adding further revenue streams.

His lavish lifestyle reflects his “Money” brand, with private jets, exotic cars, jewelry, and multiple mansions, leaving him with a net worth estimated at $400-$500 million, illustrating a combination of athletic success and shrewd business strategy.

Canelo Linked With Unlikely Opponent: “I Believe That Fight Will Happen”

Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez is edging closer to finalising his highly-anticipated return to the ring.

Canelo Alvarez offered comeback fight against dangerous rising star: "We'll sign tomorrow" | Boxing News

The 35-year-old from Guadalajara has been out of action since he was defeated by the recently retired Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas back in September. Whilst it had been suggested that Canelo was on the verge of announcing his own retirement, the four-weight world champion has now confirmed that he will be making a return to the sport this year.

Canelo is currently recovering from elbow surgery for an injury that he sustained during his monumental clash with Crawford, although he is expected to be ready to return to action by this September. One man that appears to be on Canelo’s radar is Britain’s Chris Eubank Jr, who recently suffered the fourth defeat of his career to fierce rival Conor Benn.

Speaking to Boxing Scene, Eubank’s promoter Ben Shalom revealed that he expects a showdown between Canelo and Eubank to happen, despite the Brit suffering that loss to Benn back in November.

“He would have. Listen, it’s funny how boxing works, but had he beaten Conor Benn that fight was nailed on. So it’s a big thing to have lost, but I still believe that fight will happen. I really do. I think it’s a [good fight].”

Shalom was then asked if he believes Eubank could face Canelo next.

“You never know, you never know. It might work. We’re focused on the next fight. It might work out but yeah we’ll see, we’ll see.”

Eubank was comprehensively beaten by Benn in their much-anticipated rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on November 15, seven months on from their first encounter which saw Eubank defeat Benn in what has been regarded as one of the best fights of 2025.

From Mike Tyson purse to motorsports dream: Jake Paul builds racetrack ranch in Georgia

Jake Paul has opened the gates to what may be the most ambitious post-fight purchase in recent boxing history: a $40 million ranch in Georgia that he’s transforming into a private motorsport and lifestyle compound. The property-spanning roughly 6,000 acres-was funded in large part by Paul’s purse from his high-profile bout with Mike Tyson in late 2024, followed by additional earnings from subsequent fights.

While recovering from a double jaw fracture sustained in a later bout, Paul posted a detailed video tour of the land, explaining how the project-nicknamed “Paul Reserve”-is only getting started.

We will be putting an airstrip to land the Global Express Paul Air. This will be a full-on landing strip where we can land the plane… and we will be weaving in a full-on F1 track throughout this area where it’s completely flat.

From boxing purse to racetrack vision for Paul

Paul’s idea flips the usual supercar-owner formula. Instead of collecting rare vehicles first and finding places to drive them later, he’s building the infrastructure first. “I have these nice cars, everyone has nice cars but then they’re just driving them on the highway. I wanted to do things in reverse. Build the racetrack so I can actually drive the cars.”

His plan goes beyond personal use. Paul envisions a membership-based race club where enthusiasts can own homes along the track, store cars on-site, and even fly in via the private runway. “I’m going to turn this into a membership club where people can have houses on the track… use the track whenever they want, land the plane on the airstrip and create this sort of race club.”

The flat Georgia terrain was key to the decision. According to Paul, many scenic ranch locations lacked the consistent, level ground required for both a jet-capable runway and a proper circuit layout.

What Paul’s ranch already includes

The property is far from empty. A three-mile driveway leads to four houses and a large workshop. There’s also a fully equipped boxing gym with a ring where Paul trains while on-site, multiple equipment storage buildings, and even a private fuel station for vehicles used across the ranch.

Water access was another must-have.

I needed to be on a lake where you can wake surf, jet ski, go crazy.

Jake Paul

He also emphasized climate as a deciding factor.

“I didn’t want it to ever get cold… I wanted to be able to come to this property all year round and have good weather.” Despite the scale of what’s been built, Paul admits he hasn’t explored much of it yet, estimating he’s seen less than a fifth of the land due to its vast open fields.

For now, construction continues while Paul recovers. But if the plans materialize, the Georgia ranch won’t just be a retreat-it will be a destination blending aviation, motorsports, boxing, and luxury living into a single private playground.

Terence Crawford Doubles Down On Teofimo Lopez Disrespect After Shakur Stevenson Win

‘Bud’ has no regrets with his viral post-fight celebration after Shakur Stevenson dominated Teofimo Lopez

Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson spar, gearing up for next fights | Bad Left Hook

Terence Crawford does not care what people have to say about his viral post-fight celebration after watching Shakur Stevenson shut out Teofimo Lopez.

After watching his close friend put on the performance of his career in the Ring VI main event, Crawford had no issue getting into the ring to dance and rub the victory in Lopez’s face. Seeing the backlash his actions received, Crawford revealed he still feels no remorse and still has animosity toward Lopez’s team.

“They mad!!” Crawford tweeted. “It’s coo when they do it, it’s a problem when I do it, F*** EM!!!! F*** Teo, F*** his daddy, f*** his sister and anyone else that has a problem.”

Crawford engaged in some trash talk with Lopez’s team before the fight, but he mostly contained himself during fight week. That all changed after Stevenson’s dominant victory, which convinced the former pound-for-pound No. 1 boxer to get his licks back in the aftermath.

Terence 'Bud' Crawford: Biography, record, fights and more - ESPN

The American hung up the gloves in December with a perfect 42-0 record, after a stellar career which saw him defeat all comers. Those include the likes of Errol Spence, Shawn Porter, Israil Madrimov and Viktor Postol, as ‘Bud’ went on his way to becoming undisputed at 140lbs and 147lbs, along with further world title reigns at lightweight and super-welterweight.

No doubt the best win of his career came in his final fight though, as Crawford successfully stepped up two weight divisions to dethrone super-middleweight king Canelo Alvarez, becoming the first male fighter in history to be undisputed in three separate divisions in the process. While ‘Bud’ never looked in danger of losing a fight, he has named one man who he thinks would have had what it takes to hand him his first loss.

Posting on social media, Crawford reveals that he thinks he would have found things tough were he to have ever fought Floyd Mayweather.

“I be paying homage to the ones before me but Mayweather the only one I would have had problems with because his mind.”

Just like Crawford, Mayweather retired unbeaten, ending his professional career in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record.
