“I’ll Break Him Down” – In Explosive Rant Joshua Fires Violent Warning at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua hasn’t been seen inside the squared circle since being knocked out by Daniel Dubois last September in London.

He has since been sidelined with an elbow injury that required surgery, but is now back actively training in preparation for a comeback.

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has said that the former unified heavyweight champion will face a ‘carefully’ matched opponent at the beginning of 2026, before ‘a roll of the dice next summer.’

Joshua’s hiatus from the sport has seen him axed from the IBF heavyweight rankings, having previously held the No. 5 spot, but he is still expected to achieve big things upon his comeback.

One fight the Watford powerhouse has always wanted is an all-British clash with Fury, who seemingly reversed his retirement last month and remains Joshua’s top target.

Rumours are gathering pace again that the pair could meet again in 2026, despite Fury currently having alternative plans for his comeback next year.

‘AJ’ took to social media on Tuesday with a clear message for his fans, while revealing his stance on a bout with Fury in what is a rare online rant from the 35-year-old Englishman.

“I can’t lie, I’m proud of Joseph Parker,” Joshua’s Instagram story read.

“Even though he is a competitor. Real recognises real. He’s in the game to fight whoever, whenever, and that’s the DNA of a real general.”

“Let that be a testament to God rooting in one’s favour and a statement to show nothing is impossible (if you can have a scrap haha).

Fury has never publicly declared his interest in facing off with ‘AJ’ in the ring, instead opting to call out Oleksandr Usyk for a trilogy, despite suffering two defeats to the Ukrainian last year.

‘The Gypsy King’ suffered a split decision defeat to Usyk in May 2024, before losing on points again in their rematch seven months later.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has expressed his desire to see Usyk defend his titles against 20-year-old Brit Moses Itauma next, potentially leaving room for Fury and AJ to meet for a bout over 10 years in the making.

Tony Yoka, who won gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, has been named as a potential opponent for Joshua’s next fight, but no official announcement has been made yet.

‘AJ’ has, however, negotiated with YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul over a potential crossover clash in early 2026.

Paul is set to meet WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in November, and has made it clear that he would like to meet Joshua in a David vs Goliath-style fight after.

Eddie Hearn Stirs Controversy: “You Are Not Clean” After Joshua Fires at Fury

Joshua sent an uncharacteristically vocal message to Fury on social media on Tuesday calling for the pair to settle a more than a decade-long rivalry.

Hours after his former opponent Joseph Parker came face-to-face with Fabio Wardley for the first time at a launch press conference in London to announce their October 25 showdown, ‘AJ’ took to social media to praise the New Zealander whilst also taking a swipe at ‘The Gypsy King’.

“I’m proud of Joe Parker, even though he is a competitor,” the 35-year-old said on Instagram

“He’s in the game to fight whoever, whenever and that’s the DNA of a real general.

The Morecambe man told media including Pro Boxing Fans in July that he would return for a third fight with the Ukrainian, who reclaimed the undisputed heavyweight crown with a fifth round knockout of Daniel Dubois in July.

However, the 37-year-old appeared to change his mind last month, insisting he would “never” return to the ring.

Joshua was in talks to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, but the Ohio man opted to face lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis in what is expected to be an exhibition on November 14 in Atlanta.

In his most vocal callout to date, the 35-year-old Watford man eyed a long-awaited clash with his countryman.

Anthony Joshua urged to avoid Jake Paul showdown as former rival tells him to ‘get serious’ about boxing again

Anthony Joshua has been told to forget about trying to become a three-time heavyweight champion of the world if he agrees to fight Jake Paul.

The 35-year-old hasn’t fought since getting destroyed inside five rounds by Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in a IBF world title tilt in September 2024 and isn’t expected to make his return to the ring until early next year.

Youtube-star turned-boxer Paul has won 12 of his 13 bouts since turning professional in 2020, suffering his only loss in points defeat to Tommy Fury in January 2023.

However his resume is littered with former mixed-martial arts fighters and ageing boxers, including ex heavyweight superstar Mike Tyson and former UFC world contender Nate Diaz.

Paul has agreed to face undefeated WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition showdown on November 14 but Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed talks are still ongoing for his man to face the American in a huge crossover bout.

Joshua previously reigned as unified heavyweight world champion twice between 2017 and 2021 but has since fallen from the top of the three with back-to-back losses to undisputed title holder Oleksandr Usyk and his emphatic defeat to Dubois.

And one of the Brit’s old rivals insists he needs to be facing top-ranked opponents if he wants to reclaim his former glory.

Former WBO world champion Joseph Parker was outpointed by Joshua seven years ago but has got himself back into the mix for a title shot with impressive wins against Zhilei Zhang, Deontay Wilder and Martin Bakole.

And the New Zealand star – who faces fellow contender Fabio Wardley in London on October 25 – insists sharing the ring with Paul will do nothing for Joshua’s credibility in the sport.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “AJ was a great champion when he was a champion.

“And if he is serious about boxing and serious about still being involved in the sport at the top level, that fight doesn’t make any sense at all.

“Jake Paul has done well to promote himself in saying he’s one of the best in the world.

“But if you look at it, he’s not really a real boxer. He’s a Youtuber coming into boxing and he has done well.

“If AJ wants to be serious, then he needs to fight the top fighters in the world.”

World Rankings Drop a Bombshell on Anthony Joshua Ahead of His Ring Return

Anthony Joshua’s world title aspirations have taken a hit following a 12-month hiatus from the ring.

Anthony Joshua hasn’t stepped between the ropes since last September when he suffered a devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

Surgery on a lingering elbow injury has delayed his return to the ring, but the Watford powerhouse is now back in training as he looks to mount a comeback.

Despite this, inactivity has caused him to drop out of the IBF heavyweight rankings.

AJ previously occupied the No.5 spot on the list, but that position is now held by his compatriot Moses Itauma, who has been boosted up one place in the latest ratings.

The rest of the top five is made up by Derek Chisora, Efe Ajagba and Frank Sanchez, while the No.1 spot remains vacant.

Either Ajagba or Sanchez are expected to fill the gap when they square off in an IBF final eliminator later this year.

The victor will be the new IBF mandatory, putting them in line to face reigning undisputed heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.

Gervonta Davis

Joshua, on the other hand, is a long way off challenging the upper echelons of the division again.

According to his promoter, Eddie Hearn, the 35-year-old will face a ‘carefully’ selected opponent in January or early February before one last ‘roll of the dice’ next summer.

“We’ve got to choose carefully for the next fight, and I think the best way in all of this is just to be honest and say the next fight will be a comeback fight to build into a roll of the dice next summer,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Tony Yoka has been linked as a possible dance partner for Joshua’s next fight, but no discussions have been held as of yet.

Genuine negotiations have, however, taken place with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul for a crossover clash in early 2026.

Eddie Hearn’s ‘Next Anthony Joshua’ Destroys Opponent with Brutal First-Round Knockout – Second in Just Two Months!

The precocious 18-year-old put on a boxing clinic at the Sunderland Live Arena against Portsmouth’s Cristian Uwaka (1-6-1) on the Pat McCormack vs Miguel Parra undercard.

Atang sent Uwaka tumbling to the canvas early courtesy of a clubbing right hand, and showed excellent composure in holding his shape and not rushing his work when his opponent climbed back to his feet.

A rapid flurry decked Uwaka again moments later, and although the brave journeyman met the count, referee Neil Close had seen enough and waved off the fight after 2 minutes and 31 seconds of action.

“I was so focused on the fight I forgot you had to do all this talking after,” said a typically self-critical Atang.

“I still tried to be calm, look for the openings and stuff like that.

Atang is scheduled to return to the ring on October 11 in Sheffield against a yet to be announced opponent.

It will mark his third fight in three months after making his professional debut in July with a one-round blowout of Milen Paunov (7-16).

The York puncher is promoted by Eddie Hearn, who has already branded Atang ‘the next Anthony Joshua’.

Atang enjoyed a stellar amateur career, winning five national titles and a gold medal at the Under-19 World Championships last year in Colorado.

Tyson fury

Standing 6ft 6in tall and weighing 230lbs, Atang certainly fits the dimensions of a modern heavyweight.

His blistering hand speed, excellent fundamentals, and natural finishing instincts also bode well for the future.

Unlike his counterpart Moses Itauma, who has risen through the ranks at an unprecedented rate, Atang is expected to have a more careful and considered career path.

Promoter Eddie Hearn states that he sees it as zero gain for Anthony Joshua in fighting the 20-year-old Moses Itauma.

He feels it’s a lose-lose situation, anyway you look at it. Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) is too young and inexperienced for the former two-division heavyweight champion Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) to receive any credit for beating him.

A GAINLESS PROPOSITION

On the other hand, if Joshua, 35, is beaten by Itauma, it would mean his career is “over” because he’s lost to a guy that hasn’t beaten anyone notable during his two-year pro or his entire amateur career. Itauma is being rushed to the top without fighting any of the good contenders. Fans are making a big deal about his recent first-round knockout victory over the faded British journeyman Dillian Whyte, but he wasn’t facing a quality top-tier heavyweight.

Itauma could lose to one or more of those fighters, and the hype would end abruptly about him being the next King of the division. At the very least, those heavyweights would age Itauma, wear him down, and leave him a less capable fighter than the one that rolled off the assembly line in 2023.

WEIGHING THE GAIN

“I don’t really look at the Moses fight and think that’s a fight for AJ,” promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports about a fight between Anthony Joshua and Moses Itauma. “There are many reasons for that. One, what do you gain out of it?”

Joshua doesn’t come out ahead beating Itauma because he’s so inexperienced. Moses has essentially fought 13 tomato cans as a pro, and there’s a ton of artificial hype created based on those wins. The fans aren’t even waiting to see him in with a real heavyweight before they anoint him as the new King of the division.

There will be a lot of sour fans if Itauma is exposed when he gets in with a good fighter for the first time. It’ll teach fans a lesson not to buy into fake hype and be tricked by fool’s gold.

Itauma’s Flaws

Itauma lacks the amateur background for people to have an accurate gauge of whether he’s good or not. He didn’t fight the cream of the crop from Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, and the United States when he was an amateur. The one decent fighter he fought, Stylianos Roulias of Greece, had him on the run all night, acting like he was being chased by an angry junkyard dog in their fight on November 23, 2022.

Roulias showed how to give Itauma problems by attacking him nonstop, landing hard, meaningful punches, and making him feel the pain. What that fight showed is that Itauma doesn’t like to get hit, and will do anything to avoid tasting leather.

THE ZERO-SUM GAME

“Moses is a very good fighter. If you win, you’ve beaten up a 20-year-old. If you lose, you’ve lost to a 20-year-old and your career’s over. It’s a dangerous fight. I rate Moses very highly,” said Hearn.

Joshua’s career would be seen as “over” by fans if he were to be blown out by the inexperienced Itauma. Losing to Daniel Dubois by a fifth-round knockout last September is already a signal to fans that AJ’s career is done. But if Itauma were to do something similar or worse, it would destroy Joshua’s credibility and marketability with fans.

Joshua’s popularity remains high, and he can make big money in fights against Jake Paul and Tyson Fury. If that’s his angle, the purses he would get fighting Paul and Fury would be extraordinary. Fighting Itauma, the money wouldn’t be the same because he hasn’t been around long enough to build a worldwide fanbase.

Fighting in the Trenches

“I think that Moses has a lot of work to do. He’s an extraordinary talent, but we have no idea if he can tick the boxes that are required to be a true great and a true champion in the division,” Hearn said. “What’s his chin like? What’s it like when it gets really tough in the trenches?” said Hearn.

Eddie brings up some good points. We don’t know how well Itauma will perform against quality heavyweights that are throwing back at him, forcing him into a grueling fight, and applying pressure. Dillian Whyte, 37, looked terrified, not throwing any meaningful punches in his defense before being knocked out in one round by Itauma in their headliner on August 16, 2025.

Other than Whyte, Itauma has fought no one notable. Although Moses is now ranked #1 by the WBA and WBO, his opposition has been of marginal quality all the way through his 13-fight professional career.

Lamont Roach Exposes Shocking Step-Aside Deal to Clear Way for Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul Netflix Superfight

Lamont Roach was seemingly given money by Netflix to “step aside” to Gervonta Davis could fight Jake Paul.

The boxing world is still buzzing from the announcement that WBA lightweight champion and star of the sport, Gervonta “Tank” Davis, will be fighting against Jake Paul on November 14, which is going to be broadcast on Netflix for free to anyone with a subscription.

This fight announcement came as a surprise to many. While there had been rumors about these two having agreed to a fight before Davis fought Lamont Roach on March 1, all indications were that the fight was off (or at least postponed) once Davis and Roach fought to a majority draw on that fateful night.

And this sentiment was strengthened in the months afterward, as news had broken that Roach and Davis agreed to rematch on August 16.

Of course, that date has since come and gone, and there was no rematch between these two. And now with Davis having agreed to terms against Paul (who last fought at a weight about 65 pounds heavier than Davis did against Roach), the reason the rematch didn’t happen is obvious.

Lamont Roach Reveals Step-Aside Money Amid Davis vs. Paul Announcement

In the sport of boxing, it’s relatively common for a fighter to be given what’s called “step-aside” money. This is most common when there’s a mandatory challenger for a belt, who will be paid to essentially stay on the sidelines while the champion, who was supposed to be tasked with fighting them, pursues a (likely more lucrative and appealing) fight against another contender or champion.

And on August 20, Roach made a post to his Instagram story that suggested he was getting paid by Netflix to “step aside” so Davis could fight Paul.

Roach posted a mirror selfie to his Instagram story with a gif of money flowing that said, “It’s Payday”. The post was also captioned, “We love Netflix money 🙃”. Therefore, Roach is making is quite clear where this “payday” stems from.

Lamont Roach Sr.’s Comments about Rematch Falling Through

In the immediate aftermath of the Davis vs. Paul fight announcement, Lamont Roach Jr. made an X post that wrote, “Told ya lol 🦆🦆🦆🦆,” suggesting he’s convinced Davis ducked the fight against him.

Roach’s father and head trainer, Lamont Roach Sr., spoke with FightHype for an August 20 interview and said of the rematch, “[The Roach vs. Davis rematch is] the fight. We wanted that fight, I think that’s the fight the fans wanted. After a great fight like that, everybody was looking forward to the second bout.

“But unfortunately, things didn’t line up as planned. So we just can’t sit around and wait. We’ve got to move forward and continue our own career… That fight is going to be there, and hopefully it happens soon,” he added.

Anthony Joshua vs Moses Ituma

Anthony Joshua is ready to fight Moses Ituma “at one moment” – but only under one condition.

Ituma is considered the next big heavyweight star, having knocked out Dillian Whyte in the first round of his last fight.

JUST IN: Who could Anthony Joshua face in ‘carefully’ chosen comeback fight?

However, finding opponents willing to risk their record, reputation, and health against this 20-year-old talent proved more difficult than expected. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that the two-Time champion is ready for a fight with Ituma, but only if a world title is on the line.

Hearn noted: “AJ, his decision will be completely different. He would probably be very pleased to fight Moses. He would find that exciting, and if there was a chance to fight Moses for the heavyweight world title, we would seize it immediately.”

Joshua is somewhat viewed as a mentor to Ituma, as they train in the same gym under the guidance of Ben Davison. However, Ituma’s promoter, Frank Warren, doubts that this pair will ever meet in the ring.

He admitted: “I would do it (the fight) tomorrow. But that’s not going to happen. Firstly, they have the same trainer.”

Hearn also emphasized that he does not believe a fight with Ituma is sensible for Joshua. “Moses is a very good boxer. If you win, you just beat a 20-year-old kid, and if you lose – your career is over,” he added.

Joshua and Ituma’s Plans

Joshua, 35, has not stepped into the ring since being knocked out by Daniel Dubois in September 2024 and undergoing elbow surgery in the summer. Recently, there were discussions about a possible fight with YouTuber and athlete Jake Paul, but Paul has already announced an exhibition match on November 14 against lightweight Gervonta Davis.

At the same time, Ituma is preparing for a fight in December, and Hearn wants him to be tested in practice.

Hearn expressed, “I think Moses has a lot of work to do. He’s extremely talented, but we don’t know if he’ll be able to meet the demands necessary to become a true great champion.”

  • “What if he gets hit? What will happen to him in tough situations?”
  • “Moses will become the world heavyweight champion… But I would develop that slowly.”

In the fast-evolving heavyweight landscape, a fight between Joshua and Ituma could be a pivotal moment for both boxers. For one, it’s a chance to revive a career, while for the other, it’s about proving readiness for the big stage. The significance of this bout is underscored not only by sporting interest but also by the growing demand for new stars in boxing. Time will tell if these plans come to fruition.

Anthony Joshua looks set to return to the ring in early 2026 over a year after his knockout defeat by Daniel Dubois, and recovering from a minor procedure on his elbow.

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has revealed he will be “carefully” selecting a top 15 opponent for the former champion to build some momentum heading into a potential all-British super fight with Tyson Fury next summer.

Hearn told Sky Sports: “We’ve got to choose carefully for the next fight, and I think the best way in all of this is just to be honest and say the next fight will be a comeback fight to build into a roll of the dice next summer.

If we aren’t going to see Joshua against any of the top heavyweights before next summer, who is available for him to dust off the cobwebs and reassert himself in boxing’s blue-riband division?

Jarrell Miller

Jarrell Miller is something of a ghost from Joshua’s past. He was supposed to make his grand US debut and defend his newly unified heavyweight titles against Miller in June 2019.

Joshua revealed a different side to himself in the build-up to this fight. Miller had clearly got under Joshua’s skin, and in an interview, he revealed he wanted to hurt Miller.

Joshua said: “Look at his face. I’m going to reconstruct his face and body.

“Every ounce of his spirit. I’m going to strip him of it.”

Miller ended up failing a drug test before the fight, and this opened the door for late replacement Andy Ruiz to pull off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history – derailing Joshua’s US debut and career.

Miller does not yet have his next opponent scheduled, and it could be the perfect fight for Joshua on his return.

There is plenty of history between the two to sell the fight and get Joshua fired up. Miller is also ranked in the top 10 with the WBA and is more than capable of giving Joshua the rounds he would need to regain his momentum.

Efe Ajagba

Efe Ajagba is coming off a draw with Martin Bakole that left fans disappointed as neither man put on their best performance, but many thought the Nigerian had done enough to get the win.

This has not hampered his world title hopes, however, as the IBF have ordered him and Frank Sanchez to fight in a final eliminator for the title currently held by Oleksandr Usyk.

There is no date for the fight as yet, but if it takes place before the end of the year, then there is more than enough time for Ajagba to recover and get ready for a fight with Joshua in February.

It could also work out nicely for Joshua if Ajagba becomes the mandatory challenger for the IBF title, and he cannot make the fight with Fury. In this case, a fight with Ajagba may get him right back into the title mix.

Martin Bakole

The formerly self-proclaimed most avoided man in the division, Bakole, is in something of a rut after suffering a second-round knockout defeat to Joseph Parker, followed by a fortunate draw with Ajagba earlier this year.

But Bakole now claims to be a changed man and has promised to return to the ring at a proper fighting weight, rather than nearly 300lbs.

If this is the case it would also be an enticing fight for Joshua to take. Similar to Miller, Bakole’s robust shape and slightly unorthodox style would be an interesting puzzle for Joshua to unlock. But his overall athleticism, speed and power should be too much for Bakole in the end.

His recent form would also be something that could draw Joshua in, as Bakole is a top 15 fighter with three of the four sanctioning bodies, but is on a downturn and could be ripe for the taking.

Bakole hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Joshua has Nigerian roots, opening up the possibility of the fight taking place in Africa, a scenario that has been on Joshua’s bucket list for some time.

Derek Chisora

Derek Chisora is enjoying a true Indian summer in his career after claiming two unlikely wins against Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin that have seen him shoot back into the conversation at the top of the division and become ranked second with the IBF.

After what was supposed to be part of Chisora’s farewell tour, he held up three photos of men he would like to challenge in his 50th and final fight (probably). The three men were Oleksandr Usyk, who credits Chisora as one of his hardest fights at heavyweight, Daniel Dubois and the man in question – Anthony Joshua.

The two have shared a long-standing friendship since Chisora saw Joshua walk through the doors of Finchley Amatuer Boxing club all those years ago and has affectionately referred to him as ‘little brother’.

For a time, a fight between them seemed to be more fantasy than reality – two men of different generations sharing a brief crossover. But now that Chisora has reignited a career of ups and downs, Joshua could have the honour of being the final man to share the ring with a legend of British Boxing.

Jared Anderson

Jared Anderson, once believed to be the next American heavyweight hope, is in the midst of an important rebuild in his young career after suffering a knockout loss to Martin Bakole, which saw the Congolese man steal the limelight and leave him in the wilderness.

He has since come back and beaten Marios Kollias on points in February, but there has been no news on his next move.

It would be a surprise to see Anderson go from a low-level confidence-building fight like his last, straight into a fight with a former unified champion like Joshua, but if he can get out once more this year, a fight with Joshua could be a mutually beneficial proposition.

Although Joshua would be the heavy favourite heading into the fight, Anderson has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career thus far and would have more than enough to cause some issues for the Brit.

It could also be an opportunity for Anderson to earn back the title of the next heavyweight hope in the US and jump a few places in the queue for a world title shot.

Anthony Joshua offered historic fight after missing out on Jake Paul showdown

Eddie Hearn has revealed that Anthony Joshua has been offered the chance to fulfill his dream of fighting in Africa after talks with Jake Paul led nowhere.

Boxing’s latest disruptor Paul made a lot of noise about a bout with the former heavyweight world champion, with the American instead opting for an exhibition fight with compatriot Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Joshua’s boxing career has been paused by surgery on his elbow over the summer, with his return to the ring pushed back from the end of 2025 to the start of next year.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn has hinted that Joshua’s comeback fight could be hosted in Africa, following offers for an event to be staged in Ghana.

Speaking on the Flash Knockdown podcast, Hearn shared: “As the time ticks by, it’s probably more likely that we see [Joshua] in the ring again for a January/February date if I’m honest. I don’t think there’s any value in us saying it will be in December.

“He’s been travelling about a bit but he’s back in training following an elbow operation. But these big fights take time and every AJ event is a massive event. It was well publicised about the meetings that took place in Ghana over the last couple of weeks.

“There has been an offer to do a fight there and I think it would be incredible for AJ to fight in Africa. However, when you are doing site deals a lot of it depends on when the host wants to stage the show. So, if Ghana comes back and says they’d like to go in January or February, then that’s the offer.”

Matchroom CEO Frank Smith flew to Ghana in August to review the Accra Sports Stadium in the country’s capital, as well as hold talks with Ghanaian-based Legacy Sports, who have recently worked with Amir Khan in hosting events in Africa.

Capable of holding 40,000 for national team football matches, Smith remarked that the usage of the pitch could allow between ‘50,000 and 60,000’ fans to watch a Joshua fight.

Over the years Joshua has spoken about his desire to fight on the continent, with both of his parents of Nigerian descent. The Olympic gold medallist also has a tattoo showing the outline of Africa on his right arm.

As far back as 2017 Joshua told the Daily Star: “I’d like to fight in Africa. People set records and trends for others to follow and I think it would be great because Muhammad Ali did it and he’s one of the great champions we had.

“That would be class, sometime in my career. Even if it was an exhibition match – against [Wladimir] Klitschko – in 10 years’ time.”
