Anthony Joshua Comeback Plans Take Disappointing Twist

Anthony Joshua has now been out of the ring for a full 12 months.

The former two-time unified world heavyweight champion last fought in September 2024 when he was stopped inside five rounds by then IBF ruler Daniel Dubois, who has since lost his title to undisputed king Oleksandr Usyk,

Joshua has been recovering from an elbow injury but is now back in the gym and looking to make a comeback as he works towards more big nights in 2026, hopefully against the likes of long-time rival Tyson Fury.

JUST IN: VIDEOS: Canelo Alvarez issued a fired-up response to claim that

Speaking to Sky Sports, his promoter, Eddie Hearn, was honest about the level at which Joshua will come back after so long out.

“We’ve got to choose carefully for the next fight, and I think the best way in all of this is just to be honest and say the next fight will be a comeback fight to build into a roll of the dice next summer. We want that to be against Tyson Fury. If it’s not, it’s going to be a massive fight.

“We need a top-15 guy [next]. It’s not going to be Fury, Usyk, Dubois, all of those top guys. We need someone so that AJ can come back in a competitive fight after being out for what will be over a year and get himself ready for what will be one last roll of the dice.”

Though fans will be disappointed that the Olympic Gold Medals and twice unified champ is once again returning for a lower level fight, it’s fair to say that a loss for Joshua at this stage will be devastating to his career plans, so it’s important he gets back to winning ways before one final push, with Martin Bakole one man who has called him out recently.

Canelo Alvarez issued a fired-up response to claim that he ran from his most dangerous foe… ‘I can do whatever I want’

Canelo Alvarez has put together a stunning career by facing some legendary opponents.

While the likes of a fight with Manny Pacquiao may have gotten away from Alvarez, his resume is still littered with world champions and undefeated competitors.

As is the case with any dominant fighter, fans are always going to debate whether a certain opponent could be their kryptonite.

Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford are held apart by Dana White at a Press Conference

Alvarez may have initially turned down a fight with Terence Crawford but we will get to see this super fight in just over ten days at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

‘Bud’ presents a very interesting challenge for the Mexican star, though there is one other fighter out there that many believe is still his biggest threat.

Canelo Alvarez lashed out after being criticized for not fighting David Benavidez

For some time, there has been one opponent that a lot of boxing fans have wanted to see go head-to-head with Canelo Alvarez.

The 35-year-old may still be the biggest Mexican star in boxing but there is one fighter who might take this spot once Alvarez decides to call time on his career.

David Benavidez is undefeated at 30-0 with 26 of his wins coming via knockout.

While he may only be 28 years old, it looks like his path might not cross with Alvarez due to them currently competing in different weight classes, though this is a matchup that Benavidez has heavily pushed for.

In an interview with FightHype, Alvarez responded to his fellow Mexican’s callouts and some of the criticism that he has faced for taking on different opponents in recent years.

“With the way he talks, he thinks he’s Superman. He’s very disrespectful, not just with me but with everybody, and he’s accomplished nothing. He’s not even a champion. He’s not even in my weight class [anymore].”

After diminishing Benavidez’s accomplishments, Alvarez went on to say that after everything he has done in his career, people cannot criticize him for choosing who to fight.

“There’s a lot of things there that doesn’t make sense, and plus, at this point in my career, I can do whatever I want. You guys can’t take anything away from my career and my legacy for anything. If you see my resume, I fought everybody out there, all the elite fighters out there. I’m very good with my resume.”

David Benavidez predicts Canelo Alvarez’s fight with Terence Crawford

In a recent interview with Clocked N’ Loaded, David Benavidez gave his prediction for Canelo Alvarez’s upcoming fight with Terence Crawford.

‘Bud’ has been incredibly successful when moving up weight classes but a lot of people, Benavidez included, believe that this will be too big of a jump for him.

“I think Canelo’s gonna win, only because of the size, you know what I mean? Crawford is coming up three weight classes so I think, you know, Canelo’s more of a natural super-middleweight, this is Crawford’s first super-middleweight fight so I gotta go for him.”

Benavidez, who became the WBC light heavyweight champion after Dmitry Bivol relinquished the title, is set to defend the belt against Anthony Yarde on November 22.

Jake Paul Finally Reveals The Weight Limit For Gervonta Davis Fight

Many questions remain over the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis event taking place later this year.

It was announced late last month that Paul and Davis would collide in a shock match-up at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday 14 November.

Jake Paul Gervonta Davis

It sees YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul return to action following his victory over former WBC cruiserweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June, which came eight months after ‘The Problem Child’ also defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson in a controversial bout.

Paul weighed in at 227lbs for that bout against Tyson, but now will take on a man who weighs nearly 100lbs less than that, as he turns his attention to WBA lightweight champion Davis.

‘Tank’ last competed in March when his title defence against Lamont Roach ended in a majority decision draw, with all signs pointing towards an immediate rematch between the two men taking place next.

It won’t be the case though, with Paul and Davis instead meeting one another, but it is still not official what weight the fight will be at.

‘The Problem Child’ appears to have cleared that up though, after he revealed what weight he has to make for the fight in a video by betr.

“I have to make 195.”

It means Paul will have a huge weight advantage over Davis, who has never weighed in above 140lbs in his career and will lose important attributes by packing on too much. There will also be an eight inch height difference between the two fighters, something that former ‘Tank’ foe Ryan Garcia feels will have a major impact on the fight.

There lies the controversy, and why the fight is likely to be an exhibition with softer rules rather than sanctioned as a pro bout.

Anthony Joshua could retire from boxing sooner than anyone thought

Anthony Joshua might hang up his gloves if he suffers defeat in his upcoming bout, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

The former two-time heavyweight world champion hasn’t stepped into the ring since his loss to Daniel Dubois last September. Following recent elbow surgery, he’s now planning his comeback to the squared circle. Hearn has disclosed that the British fighter is scheduled to compete in January, with his sights set on bigger names next summer.

YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul was among the potential opponents discussed, with a clash seemingly lined up for early next year. Paul was so keen to face the heavyweight that he was prepared to accept just ONE PER CENT of the fight purse. But the bout collapsed after the ‘Problem Child’ confirmed he’ll be taking on Gervonta Davis instead, reports All Out Fighting.

With Joshua and his camp now exploring other options, Hearn has opened up about his star client’s future, warning how a loss at this point would be “devastating” to hopes of future showdowns against Tyson Fury or other elite heavyweights. “We’ve got to choose carefully for the next fight and I think the best way in all of this is just to be honest and say the next fight will be a comeback fight to build into a roll of the dice next summer,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“We want that to be against Tyson Fury. If it’s not, it’s going to be a massive fight. We need a top-15 guy [next]. It’s not going to be Fury, Usyk, Dubois, all of those top guys. We need someone so that AJ can come back in a competitive fight after being out for what will be over a year and get himself ready for what will be one last roll of the dice. A defeat now at this stage of his career would be devastating to those plans. So we need to get it right.”

Topping Hearn’s wish-list is an all-British clash between Joshua and Fury. The ‘Gypsy King’ stepped away from boxing in January following consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk, but shocked supporters in July by reversing his retirement decision. Yet just weeks later, the former two-time heavyweight champion ruled out any immediate return to action.

Regarding a potential Fury versus Joshua bout, Hearn confessed: “Right now all that’s in my mind in an ideal scenario is to fight Tyson Fury next year. That’s the big focus. From a common-sense perspective the fight has to happen in 2026 but common sense and Fury’s decisions don’t always gel together. He’s got to want to come back. It’s a personal decision.”

Prior to his return, Hearn has confirmed it won’t be against fighters such as Daniel Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk or Joseph Parker. Tony Yoka’s name has been mentioned in recent weeks, whilst the victor of the Efe Ajagba-Frank Sanchez IBF eliminator represents another possibility. Ghana has been mooted as one of the potential venues for the upcoming contest.

Speaking about Joshua’s comeback, Hearn disclosed: “There’s been no conversations with [Yoka] about the fight but it’s not going to Fury, Usyk, Dubois, Moses [Itauma], Parker, it’s just not going to be one of those guys next. If there was a way to win a world title it would be amazing to see him become a three-time world heavyweight champion.”

When is Anthony Joshua’s next fight?

With Joshua presently recuperating from surgery on his elbow – as previously mentioned, his promoter anticipates the boxer will return early next year. An opponent is yet to be confirmed. ‘AJ’ hasn’t competed since enduring a crushing knockout loss to Dubois last September.

A rematch with ‘Triple D’ could be on the cards after Dubois’ manager – Sam Jones – welcomed the idea of a second showdown with ‘AJ’, stating: “The rematch with AJ is always there. I’m a big AJ fan – I’ve made no secret of that. He’s a proud man, and I know he won’t want to keep seeing that knockout by Daniel on his screen. I’m sure he’ll want to right that wrong. And if he ever wants to, then let’s get it on. It’s all about what’s best for Daniel now – WBO, IBF, WBC. He belongs at the top table in heavyweight boxing. He’s an elite-level heavyweight. All those names you mentioned – Daniel will be back in the mix.”

Floyd Mayweather Names The Opponent That Stood Out In His 50 Fight Career

Floyd Mayweather Jr is often regarded as being one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves.

He burst onto the scene during the late 1990, entering the paid ranks just a few months after he captured a Featherweight Bronze Medal at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

‘Money’ would go on to become a world champion in no less than five weight classes during his tenure, ranging from super-featherweight up to super-welterweight where he defeated the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao along the way.

Known for his outstanding defensive skills, Mayweather remained unbeaten throughout the course of his 21-year professional career, defeating each and every one of the 50 opponents that he crossed paths with.

Speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game Podcast, Mayweather gave an insight into his 2015 ‘Fight of the Century’ with Filipino icon Pacquiao and reveals exactly why ‘PacMan’ was the best fighter he ever faced.

“The best fighter I ever fought probably was Manny Pacquiao.

“It’s because of his movement. He’s a hell of a fighter, and I can see why he won so many fights, and I can see why he’s going down as a Hall of Famer. It’s just certain moves he makes.”

Although their monumental showdown in Las Vegas failed to live up to expectations, boxing fans were treated with a fight for the ages when the former pound-for-pound stars locked horns for the unified welterweight championship in May of 2015.

Mayweather got the nod on all three of the judges scorecards on the night, handing the Filipino icon the sixth defeat of his glittering professional career, where he became a world champion in eight weight divisions, a record breaking accomplishment for one of the greatest fighters to have ever graced the sport.

Charlie Woods receives emotional support from his mother Elin Nordegren after his father Tiger failed to support him in his latest performance

Charlie Woods, the young rising star in the junior golf world and son of legend Tiger Woods, recently delivered an impressive performance, but noticeably absent was the vocal support from his father.

Instead, it was Elin Nordegren, Charlie’s mother and Tiger’s ex-wife, who provided the steady emotional backing he needed.

The gaping void left by Tiger’s quietness was filled by Elin, reminding everyone of the invaluable strength parental presence can bring, especially in moments of pressure.

Elin’s supportive role was particularly notable during a recent key match where Charlie nearly clinched a top spot but fell just short. Rather than lingering on the disappointment, she was there-calm, composed, and unwavering in her encouragement.

For Charlie, who has been navigating both the pressures of youth competition and the weight of a famous surname, his mother’s presence has been a quiet anchor.

The power of maternal support

Elin Nordegren’s dedication has become a testament to her character. While Tiger is often focused on his own professional comebacks and personal health, Elin has seamlessly stepped into the supportive role for her children.

Her presence reflects deliberate co-parenting choices rooted in love and resilience-even in the spotlight.

In recent times, Elin has been spotted consistently at Charlie’s events, quietly watching his swing, celebrating his shots, and embracing him after rounds.

It is no small detail that she attended in solid support when Tiger did not-especially in a moment when Charlie could’ve used his father’s encouragement most.

For aspiring young athletes, the visible embrace of a parent-or absence thereof-carries weight. Elin’s unwavering presence illustrates that success in sports isn’t just built on skill or lineage; it’s nurtured through steadfast emotional support.

Charlie’s development isn’t solely shaped by the legacy of his father but also by the encouraging force standing beside him every step of the way.

As Charlie continues to grow his game, the emotional quadrant formed by his supportive mother and sister remains his grounding force-whether his father’s words echo on the sidelines or not.

Emotional: Tearful US Open legend Chris Evert ‘feels like Coco Gauff’ after emotional 50-year anniversary tribute

The tears have been flowing in Flushing Meadows at this year’s US Open, and it’s not just Coco Gauff. Another former champion, current announcer Chris Evert, wept on Monday as ESPN celebrated the 50th anniversary of her first US Open title — a three-set victory over Australia’s Evonne Goolagong at the tournament’s former venue in Forrest Hills, Queens.

But after watching video footage of Billie Jean King, Patrick McEnroe and others fawning over her illustrious career, as well as her 1975 win over Goolagong, Evert couldn’t hold back the tears any longer.

‘I feel like Coco Gauff right now,’ she said. ‘I’m sorry.’

Now one year older than Evert was when she won her first open a half century ago, Gauff has had an emotional run at this year’s tournament, which ended with Monday’s two-set loss to Japan’s Naomi Osaka. The third-seeded women’s player and 2023 champion has been retooling her serve, and amid that frustration, she wept both during and after her second-round win over Donna Vekic.

Not everyone was happy about the announcer’s joke, including one X user who wrote: ‘espn did a whole tribute to chris evert and at the end the first thing she did was take a shot at coco gauff.’

Aside from the joke, the moment was an emotional one for Evert, who announced in 2023 that she is once again battling ovarian cancer. She was previously cured of the disease in 2022 years after it claimed the life of her sister, Jeanne.

‘She’s one of my favorite all the human beings,’ King said of Evert in the video tribute.

‘There was something extremely relatable,’ added rival Martina Navratilova. ‘She brought new fans to the game and made little girls and boys think “Oh, I think I can do this. I can follow in those footsteps.”‘

Back on set, John McEnroe couldn’t help but add some levity to the moment.

‘The attention you brought to the sport however made me want to be a tennis player and thankfully I became one,’ he told Evert. ‘And finally, like millions of other young boys I wanted to marry you, I admit it.’

Of course, it was McEnroe’s rival Jimmy Connors who won Evert’s heart. The two became engaged, although the marriage was quickly called off and the two tennis legends went their separate ways.

‘Then you got engaged to Jimmy Connors,’ McEnroe continued as his co-hosts laughed. ‘I hated that. If I ever play that guy, going to beat his ass. Chrissie, I love you, congrats. Glad I can call you a friend.

Elin Nordegren’s New Chapter Influenced Sam Woods After the Woods Divorce

When Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren divorced in 2010, the world’s eyes were firmly fixed on one of the most publicized breakups in modern sports history. Beyond the headlines, however, the divorce shaped not just the lives of the former couple, but also their two children, Sam Alexis Woods and Charlie Axel Woods. For Sam in particular, the guidance of her mother, Elin, played a pivotal role in molding her early years, her values, and the direction her life has taken away from the glare of the spotlight.

Elin Nordegren, once thrust into unwanted global attention during Tiger’s scandal, quietly began crafting a new life for herself. Choosing privacy and stability over the limelight, she focused on education, personal growth, and family. She went back to school, earning a degree in psychology from Rollins College, where she even graduated with top honors. Her reinvention symbolized resilience, showing her children the importance of persistence and self-worth, no matter the circumstances.

For Sam Alexis, watching her mother rebuild her life was more than just a lesson—it was a blueprint for independence and strength. Elin’s determination to stand tall after one of the most scrutinized divorces in the world taught Sam that personal setbacks never define who you are, but rather how you respond to them.

Unlike many children of superstar athletes, Sam’s upbringing has been remarkably grounded. Elin has kept her daughter’s life private, shielding her from constant media attention while still ensuring she has opportunities to thrive. Sam has developed interests outside of golf, distinguishing her path from that of her younger brother Charlie, who has followed closely in Tiger’s athletic footsteps.

Charlie Woods

This balance reflects Elin’s influence. By keeping the household steady, she allowed Sam to grow up with a sense of normalcy—something rare for children of global icons. Friends of the family have often remarked that Elin’s priority has always been her children’s emotional well-being, a decision that shaped Sam’s sense of identity during her formative years.

A Different Connection to Tiger Woods

Though Tiger Woods remains a central figure in Sam’s life, his relationship with her has always been unique compared to his bond with Charlie. While Charlie has embraced golf, often competing in junior tournaments alongside Tiger, Sam has largely stayed away from the sport. Tiger has openly admitted that Sam isn’t as interested in golf, but that doesn’t mean their bond is weaker. Instead, their connection thrives in different ways—through academics, personal conversations, and family experiences outside of the golf course.

It’s here where Elin’s role becomes clear again. By never pushing Sam toward the public eye or a golf career, Elin allowed her daughter to choose her own path. In doing so, she instilled in Sam the confidence to define herself outside of her father’s legendary legacy.

Elin’s New Family Life

In recent years, Elin has welcomed new beginnings, including expanding her family with her partner, former NFL player Jordan Cameron. This chapter introduced Sam to a blended family environment, one that emphasized love, respect, and support across different households. Rather than disrupting her growth, this change enriched it—giving her more role models and a broader sense of family.

Sam’s ability to adapt, thrive, and maintain a grounded lifestyle is a direct reflection of the environment Elin cultivated. The lessons of resilience, discretion, and self-identity have clearly shaped how Sam navigates her teenage years.

Tiger woods

Though Sam Alexis Woods has chosen a quieter path compared to her brother’s growing golf fame, her life remains just as compelling—precisely because of the balance and perspective her mother provided. Elin Nordegren’s decision to protect her children while quietly rebuilding her own life after the divorce ensured that Sam grew up seeing strength not just in victory, but in recovery.

In many ways, Sam’s story is not about what she inherited from Tiger’s name, but about what she absorbed from her mother’s resilience. Elin’s new chapter became more than a fresh start—it became the foundation of her daughter’s independence, grace, and strength.

Anthony Joshua Vows To Stays Relentless, Pursuing The Fight of Every Boxer’s Dream

In May, Anthony Joshua (28-4; 25 KOs) announced that he would undergo surgery on his elbow, which would keep him out of training for six to eight weeks. This meant that a hypothetical fight against Tyson Fury (34-2-1; 24 KOs) was unlikely to happen in 2025.

The last time AJ stepped into a ring was in September 2024. The former world heavyweight champion was stopped in five rounds by then-IBF champion Daniel Dubois. On the other hand, the ‘Gypsy King’ has been out of the ring since last December, when he succumbed for the second time to Oleksandr Usyk. Fury even retired once again – for the fourth time – after that defeat.

Joshua is already working in the gym and planning his comeback. Speaking to Sky Sports, his promoterEddie Hearn, explained what the next steps for his fighter will be: “We have to choose carefully the next fight, and I think the best way to do that is to be honest and say it will be a comeback fight to have a shot next summerWe want it to be against Tyson Fury [summer 2026].

If not, it will be another huge fight,” said Hearn, adding: “We need a ‘top 15’ fighter now. It’s not going to be Fury, Usyk, Dubois or all those heavyweights. We need someone so that AJ can come back in a competitive fight after being out for more than a year and prepare for what will be his last chance”.

Gervonta Davis

The British promoter is clear that AJ’s return will be more about getting a feel for things and gaining confidence, and that in the summer of 2026 is when they will attempt a big fight. He points to Tyson Fury, and the British public and the boxing world in general deserves this duel, even if it comes very late. The winner of the two would achieve a good position. If the ‘Gypsy King’ is looking for another shot at Usyk, the best thing he can do is to go against Joshua first. A Joshua-Itauma fight would not be bad either, as it would bring together the ‘old lion’ and the new contender to become the alpha male

Tiger’s Son Charlie Woods  Drops Striking Remarks After Marking Landmark Victory as Tiger’s Son

Charlie Woods, the teenage son of golf legend Tiger, is once again earning widespread praise following his response after a big win this week. And the rising talent continues to convince fans he may be destined to follow in his father’s footsteps after demonstrating an elite mindset.

The 16-year-old landed his first Amateur Junior Golf Association (AJGA) title on Wednesday. Charlie topped the leaderboard at the Team TaylorMade Invitational after carding a third-round 66 to finish at 15-under and comfortably clear of his competition.

That result is being hailed as the best performance of Woods Jr’s career thus far. But it’s not just his qualities on the course that are impressing fans after his post-match comments drew comparisons with his famous father.

“I didn’t look at the leaderboard once today,” said the youngster after his crowning moment, per The Mirror US. “On the fairway after hitting the green on 18, he’s [Woods’ caddie] like, ‘you make par here, you’re going to be fine.'”

Those words demonstrate the kind of character that often lights the path to greatness. The ability to focus on one’s own game, regardless of how others are performing around you, is a rare quality but illustrates an individual confident in their ability to shape their own destiny.

Tiger woods

Woods’ skills certainly paid off at the Black Course at Streamsong Resort in his home state of Florida. And the competition was fierce, with fellow junior talents like Miles Russell, Phillip Dunham and Luke Colton all in the field.

The young golf prodigy from Orlando bounced back with aplomb after missing out on US Open qualifying earlier in May. Resilience is key in the game of golf, and Woods Jr already appears to have learnt a lesson in dusting oneself down for the next challenge.

For the world’s most closely observed junior golfer, the trajectory can only go up. Following his victory, Woods Jr was brimming with confidence and not content just to celebrate as he looked to build on his success.

“Being able to say to myself that I won an absolutely amazing event and to say I performed under some high-pressure situations is just huge going forward,” he added. “I haven’t been able to say that I have done that, and now that I can, it is just a big thing for my mental game going forward.”

Launching his campaign with promise, Woods delivered an initial two-under-par 70 in Monday’s round. But it was his subsequent rounds of 65 and 66 that truly put the competition on notice.

Tiger woods

His first round showed both brilliance and flaws with eight birdies, an eagle, alongside bogeys and a solitary triple bogey. But the up-and-coming star adapted quickly as the action progressed at Streamsong.

Carrying the Woods name might set the bar high, but Tiger’s son is showing his mettle and maturing gracefully in a high-pressure environment. That comes as part and parcel of his legacy, but he is weathering the challenge in impressive fashion.

This year essentially serves as an audition for the legacy star, with colleges able to kick-start their recruitment drive for him this summer. And following a triumphant win in Florida, it appears he won’t be lacking attention.
